Title: stuck seatpost....
Post by: cdt808 on March 13, 2013, 10:35 PM
So .... I have an old frame from which I hoped to remove a fluted seat post to use on another bike, but its stuck fast  :(

Have given it a good old heave ho whilst the saddle was on and, in frustration once the saddle was off,  a good tw*t with a lump hammer - which moved it further in by about 3mm.....

how the chuff do i get it out guys????   :-[

Put the seat post in a vice and use the frame to twist it out, if you don't have a vice try clamping a stem to the post to give you a bit of leverage  :daumenhoch:

Drill a hole (near top) through the post, push metal bar/screwdriver through.. Twist n turn til out.

If all else fails you can saw it off and use a strong caustic mix to melt it out.

Maybe you can heat the tube a little ....

If it's an aluminium frame drill it out as all the twisting and tuggind will probably snap the frame  :crazy2:

My stuck post wasa alloy renthal and it has fused to the metal frame - snapped the top trying to drill a hole in it to twist the top (it was fused)

if it has moved 3 mm then i would put it in a vice and twist it out using some man power  :knuppel2:

got it out in the end - just got to get it welded up from the previous owner
