Title: My first riding edit for 15 years
Post by: SaMAlex on March 18, 2013, 10:30 PM
At the end of last year I had some riding clips left over from Ride2Glory and some usable clips from an adult shoot. All I had to do was thro in a few more tricks, put it to one of my bands tracks and I'd have an edit.

Thanks. Im my head its an 80s kickturn (back when if you didnt have a coaster brake you stood on the tyre). I dont think Ive seen anyone else do them in an icepick.

Never mind that, what about the surfer! Thats the longest one Ive ever done!  ;D

That icepick's got a bit of everything  :daumenhoch: originality, tech & a certain earthy/easy style which seems to be missing nowadays! Ok yeah, bonus points for the surfer  :LolLolLolLol:

Good video Alex,

Question for ya

At the start of the video, you fall off head first over a jump box, how the hell do you manage not to break your hands or wrist going down like that?

It was just a little block on the floor. I was trying to manual roll and then hop up to nose wheelie but I timed it wrong and stuffed the front wheel into the edge of the block and flipped over. I guess I got away with it lucky.

I would love to start learning to ride ramps and parks, I started trying tracks last year and 2nd time out I broke my wrist and was screwed for 3 months. Street/parks like your video is what I would love to learn to do, but I wondering wether I am too old to start doing it. In the 80s I had no fear and bounced when I fell off. I seem to do down with a crunch these days lol

Yep, thats the problem. Its never too bad when i come off, the pain comes when you get home after riding, and it lasts twice as long. Know your limits, and learn how to crash safely..! Works for me.  :)

Crashing and a few bruises doesn't bother me, breaking bones does. When I broke my wrist my 2 managers turned a bit of a blind eye to injury and let me come to work, my mate agreed to do all the driving, we normally take turns each. If my managers had followed correct procedure, I would have been put in the call centre at head office instead of being out doing installs. Over the 3 months I was injured, I would have lost a few thousand pound in bonus wages if I had been stuck in the call centre. I want to push myself and learn tricks, but cant risk injuries.

Yeah, I rode a bully for a while. It was the nicest bashguard frame design (not just welded on the bottom) and  it also came with a plastic plate.
Shame every other single part of the frame was total junk!  :yahoo_silent:  ;D

Yep EMB in SF. That whole part was filmed in West America, mainly North-West. It wasn't even meant to be a Video section, we were riding there for a few months and my mate had got a new camera so he did loads of filming. When I got home the guys from Backyard asked if I had any riding footage and they edited it together into an OK section.
