Had to go to Poole today to sort something out for my son's 18th B/D on Saturday so i thought i'd take a trip down memory lane whilst i was there. My bike was still in the car due to having taken my dog out an hour earlier so i thought i'd leave it there for obvious reasons. I hadn't been to this track since 1986 when i last raced there.
Poole to many, especially SC (south coast) riders was the best track in the UK, it was a sandy downhill track that when wind conditions were favorable was very fast. It was obviously famous for it's Dollies which for some mad reason were made smaller a year or so later.
It closed it's doors to racing in the late 80's due to some rare lizard or something similar that was found there. A very sad day indeed.
As you can see from the pics it's still sort of rideable today and definitely easy to recognize to all that rode there back in the 80's.
This is Gary Llewellyn jumping the Dollies at the Dr Pepper championship 1984.

I only live 5 mins from there,I used to live on the main road, parents still do.
Spent all my formative years on that common, and most of my BMX years on that track after school,in the holidays and at weekends.
Used to watch most of the race meets,my dad has loads of pics from those days, you might be in some of them Andy !!
Can't believe how overgrown its got, last time I went and had a look was about 3 years ago. :daumenhoch:

Excellent fun visting this track on the Bournemouth ride out last weekend. Photos make more sense now. I nearly lost it on those final straight triples last week. Coming off at 1mph would have been very dangerous :LolLolLolLol:
