Title: 990 Brake Plate - any good? Where to buy?
Post by: punkdSICO on April 01, 2013, 10:49 PM
Anyone using one of these?  http://www.danscomp.com/489057.php?cat=PARTS# (http://www.danscomp.com/489057.php?cat=PARTS#)

Any good for forks without lugs?  Will it clear a 2.20" front tyre?  And, anyone know where to buy one (google not much help)?

Maybe it's going to be easier to just replace my NS forks with some lugged forks and take the cost hit..  :-[

Not all forks have a hole drilled for one of those, lugged forks would be a better bet

Gotta ask the question, do you need a front brake?

My forks have a central drill hole so Im good..

Yeah, I do need a front brake but Im looking for a set as want them to look like a pair.  And, Im looking for chrome/polished.  Not sure what models Im looking for yet (know bugger all about NS) but I will be lead based on what they look like 

Thanks all..

there are some fishbone ones on ebay for £7.99 inc delivery they have a lazer etched stifener on the front of them but you dont have to use it. the back bit is like the one in your picture but chrome comes with fork spindle and clips really good quality.  :daumenhoch:

Yeah, I am finding that.  Seems to me that when building OS, you are spoilt for choice for components.  With NS, there seems to be zero used stuff being sold..!!  I wanted to do this build mainly with used stuff but I keep having to go for new.  Okay, I am pretty fussy but I would still love to find the occasional bit of used NS being sold at a good price..

I can only justify this build by telling myself that I will be selling some OS builds at some stage..  :(

Hey ho..
