Title: 1980 Scott Clark Robinson finished
Post by: In2 bmx on April 21, 2013, 08:29 PM
My last ever Robinson / build finished and this one has been a challenge  :) .. I found a photo of Scott on a Robinson and realised I had the jersey in the photo , so the rest of the bike had to follow ..  This photo is all I had to go off .  Scott and Bobby woods  :4_17_5:

I had Scott on my Facebook and after time , he's helped me with the parts he can remember on the above bike .  It's not an exact replica but pretty close  :)

In all the photo's i have of Scott he's always running an inverted rear brake and I couldn't work out how he ran the cables until he gave me the answer ..

. I had thought of drilling the frame until i was told not to ..

Do I drill it  :-\

A few months later , I was talking to Alan woods and told he told me he had an old plate somewhere and sent me a photo  :) .

And it's now complete ..  I love the Ame decal stuck over the Oakley decal after he changed sponsors

You have a very special part of the Robinson storey there Carl,  I ve seen this build develop and its another Cracker from you mate   :daumenhoch:

Carl that little workshop in Chucks yard surely made its mark on the bmx scene ...   :smitten:

Last build,  mmm.  Maybe a slow down but last build I doubt it  :LolLolLolLol:

You've done another stunning job on that one Carl.

I know how hard it is trying to replicate a build from a magazine pic but you have had the added the luxury of speaking to the man himself.

A real 'feel good' build  :smitten: :smitten:

now thats what you call a replica bike  8)
if you never gonna sell the bike and you wanted it just as he had it then i'd drill it.
if you think you might cash it one day then i'd leave it.
i know it would do my head in not to drill it though  :uglystupid2:

Carl, that as truly amazing  :smitten: You always put that extra bit of work into all of your builds and that's what makes them so special  :4_17_5:

To also get the seal of approval from Scott must be the icing on the cake - and as the man himself said "don't drill the frame"  :D

That bike Bobby woods is riding looks like that needs building  ^"^  the chance of getting that plate and top ..  ;D

INsane build Carl, looks straght outta of a time tunnel. My buddy had this near exact bike back bitd as he was Robinson mad & wanted the same ride as Scott. We got to meet Scott & Bobby at a national  later that year on said rides so this brings back a lot of memories.
Seeing Scott's plate, jersey & having his input & seal of approval is obviously  as Cool as fook too. What more could you ask for?
My fave build of the year so far. :4_17_5:

Cheers,Mike
