Title: best part
Post by: garran on May 08, 2013, 04:33 PM
when you rode(or still do) , without being a parts snob what was the best feeling part you had?
for me i had some diamond back expert bars from surrey bmx, they felt right on every bike i put them on, i sold them so i could get some lavender ez copy bars(which snapped).

jive handles, tech 77 levers and the alienation loo seat, probably the comfiest seat ever made in my opinion.

JMC Darrell Young bars, I had them on my race bike all through the 80's. The size and the geometry of them made the bike feel incredible.  :smitten: Totally different to any other bars.  :4_17_5:

ESP stem. Cool quality stylish and well made. Can remember the day I bought it. Wanted one for ages. Way cooler than a Hutch stem.

Still got it now.

Tech 77 lever, GT profiles, 1" pitch forks, and Slam bars are the parts that just felt right to me.

From back in the day, as we were a large family and couldn't afford the luxury of expensive parts then, the best parts that I, or my mates ever had are original ODI mushoom grips  :smitten:  GT Pro bars. The best, most versatile bars ever made imo, Suntour XCII's (Beartraps), Elina flyte tech seat and tech 3 levers  :daumenhoch:

There were many small moments in my days riding BMX in my youth.

Getting my Mongoose Californian was the first, then getting some snide CWs (couldnt afford real ones) about a year later. Didnt bother me though as i thought they looked good and made the bike ride miles better. Happy days indeed.

I think we all had the same bike :LolLolLolLol:

Agree with Terry on the GT Pro bars, everyone on the propper Mushies and Nick on the MKS Graffites. My Mongoose Californian also had a Supergoose opc that was 10mm longer at 175mm which made a difference.

Best part that ever graced it was my girlfriend's arse sat on the saddle bitd though.  now that really taught me how to ride  >:D

For me it was my Diamondback Silver Streak ll frame n forks. Bought complete bike from Alan's in Dec 82.
It had so many parts on and off over the years that either i wasn't happy with or i broke or were damaged beyond repair, but the frame n forks were always reliable.
I swapped it in 87 for a petrol RC car  (big mistake)  :idiot2:
I'd love another some day   :smitten:
