Title: Survivor Factory Spec CW Z-1500
Post by: That Swan Guy on May 13, 2013, 04:10 PM
I guess it's a survivor as it's not strictly NOS as it's been built, but not ridden much further than the 7-11 by the looks of the tyres and brake blocks!

these sum up mid 80's bmx for me,lots of neon colours and lots of white,i remember these cw's like it was yesterday, the down side of these was that as far as i remember this was the beginning of the end of cw with these being made overseas and really only being half the bike they used to be :-[

You're not wrong Mark. Whilst it looks ace, it weighs a ton compared to the PP, ZX-3 and even the cruisers I have.
Trim isn't that exotic either, apart from the branded parts shown all the components are generic.
Still, it's a survivor that's in very good shape, even if that shape was lost in the humdrum of commercial sales in the late 80s.

its a great survivor Nick, the other thing worth mentioning is that cw ditched their 'ugly' geometry and went a bit more mainstrem with these,a more lower sleeker bike,in doing this though they lost everything they were about and were simply comcentrating on $$$$$$$$ rather than their roots and everything that had made them what they were, you are almost looking at the beginning of the end of the buzz that was bmx with these mid 80's models.cw are still one of my favourite companies to this day :smitten:

There's a bit of a scrape on the main decal on the non drive side otherwise just the odd bit here and there.
