Title: 1983 Torker Pro X
Post by: Gnarlyscoots on May 23, 2013, 08:13 PM
I have been after one of these for a while now, so, not feeling the love I thought I would have riding the GT, I decided to take the offer up of owning this Pro X. Being an '84, I had lots of parts already so that was a bonus  :coolsmiley:

Anyways, it arrived yesterday and double checking the serial today, it turns out to be a late '83 model  :daumenhoch:  So that's the parts out the window, again  :D

It is original chrome and original decals  :smitten:  Not sure how I am going to build it yet so will think over some parts. Any suggestions is cool too  :daumenhoch:

I love 'em so much Sean, it's my third  :daumenhoch: Thanks for the input guys.

Neil, you are eerily close to what I was thinking about doing mate  :D I didn't think GT hubs though. I have the stem (need stripping and very light polish), bars (need a re-chrome) and DX pedals (need stripping and a very light polish) which I hope to get started on soon  :daumenhoch:

I would use 155mm cranks, 52T ring, 16" Tuffs & a 20" bell.

That would probably be the obvious choice but I think they look wicked dressed with blue parts  :coolsmiley:

Thanks guys for your comments and advice, it is appreciated so keep it coming. I like to hear what ideas people have  :coolsmiley:

The trouble is with blue Steve, I already have one that way mate. I don't want to follow the masses before me and build a black/chrome/yellow one. I don't think Torkers look well dressed in red either.

This is going to be hard, that's for sure. It will, however, be being built like I tried with my rider I just done. Randomly  :daumenhoch:

That could be mine from bitd, as I only rode it for two months, one of the worst frames sets I ever owned, so low at the front was terrible to ride, luckily I got a performer from my LBS on credit within two months, had a little white book that I took down every Friday and paid off as much as I could. Anyway all torkers need black parts or they start going down the clown route.

I have been chatting to the last owner of this and he says that one side of the down tube decal is a re-issue  :yahoo_silent:

So, on that premise, and being as the others are scuffed, would you put on new decals or leave as is?
