Title: where to start
Post by: J4CK on June 23, 2013, 06:22 PM
emm, well my frame is crap.
it's some random kink, probably hi-tens steel

so I want to get a decent frame but I don't have a clue where to start.
what size do I need (I'm 5' 5")
I would like to get into trails as some have been built an hour up the road from me.
And I would like it to be light

I will have a budget of around £100 but I don't mind buying a used frame cause I know
it will be better value and I am not likely to snap it being 14 and 5ft 5"

What would you recommend radsters?

Thanks :daumenhoch:

I'm 5'5" and I've just got a 20.4" top tube wethepeople and I'm loving it, I've had 20" 21" and 21.5" and this suits me the best

But I think it's what you are used to, I have a mate that can ride anything you put him on

Look for something with 20.5"tt or 20.75" at your height, bear in mind at your age you'll still be growing

Loads of used frames ont bay  :daumenhoch:

I'm 5'5" and ride a 20.75" tt but it's got a mega short back end and steep HT so it feels shorter than it is

Yeah the zenith was, it's now fooked as I predicted. The lad that aged me for two years, snapped the bar/stem combo in two weeks and twisted the frame by week three

That frame'd do you, just be wary like's been said - it's not full chromo so if you're going big it might not last.

Bit of advice, like Betty said there's plenty of sub £100 secondhand frames on eBay - go try a bike out if you've got a local bike shop and see what TT fits you. If you do get that one you linked to, when you get it make sure it's all straight and not twisted etc  :daumenhoch:

Mmmm... the pink prowler :coolsmiley:

Scared to fook out of me one the first and only time I took it to a skatepark it was soo fookin light - I think I sold it to you the next day didn't i mate  :2funny:

The green machine looks well sweet J and at 20.4" TT much better for you I bet :daumenhoch:

Garbage.... avoid

Jay says it all here

Look for a decent brand, frames from S&M, fit, united
