1985 Piranha Freestyler, dying to do a rep. :smitten:
-
Khalkoff Spitfire
First 'proper' BMX was a Kuwahara Nova which I've still got :)
-
Ultra Burner (blue)
-
1982 BH California from Halfords.
Bought a lovely survivor (all original, even the tyres) from the bay last year for fifty quid thanks to our Winny. :daumenhoch:
Still a heavy PoS but brought me out in goosebumps the first time I rode it again. :smitten:
Second was a Silver and Blue Raleigh Ultra Burner. My stupid fook of a mother gave it away to one of my cousins when I left home to go to Uni. :knuppel2:
Third was a DP Freestyler in chrome with green zeds swapped for an eighth of resin when I was at Uni (1990); can't believe I left it in the cellar of a house we moved out of. :idiot2:
-
2nd hand Motomag in 79, first new BMX was a Super Burner, Christmas 1982. My folks kept it in the study as they bought it about 4 weeks before Christmas, I kept sneaking a look - those four weeks were agony :)
I still feel that excitement when I look at my BMX to this day... :smitten:
-
Falcon Pro Sigma xmas 83. Cromo F&F, and I raced it until I outgrew it aged 13 ::)
-

Air. :daumenhoch:
-
Stratton, it was red and white 2 tone and I swear it was made of licorice.
Ha ha Stratton...!! I remember those. Plenty of blue and yellow ones round my area in the mid 80's.
I had an 82 puch gti turbo. I have an excellent survivor example, crude but cute.
-
Moto One for me..... £69 from a petrol station in Stretford nr Manchester of all places.
Bent the forks after 3 weeks so was treated to a pair of yellow Redline MXII forks and the rest is history :)
-
Falcon Pro Kappa. Blue with yellow pads, grips, seat. Bought a 99% original survivor for £112 on ebay 2 weeks ago. Brought back lots of memories. Resto thread will be posted up soon

MK1 Tuff burner, loved it, still want one but horrible to ride now I'm a big bigger :LolLolLolLol:
-
I borrowed a bike from a mate for a couple of months till I got my own, which was a Pro-Star :daumenhoch:
-
I got a Mark 1 Raleigh Tuff Burner. It was ace. I'd love a mint one the same just for looking at :)
-
Interesting how the vast majority of people had pretty low end stuff, which there seems to be alot of love for and yet when given an opportunity to have fun building some low end stuff in the budget build off there is no love....... Just sayin :-X
Anyways pretty sure mine was a red and yellow burner though i remember it having cobra style grips with hexagon shaped ends ???
-
1982 MT Racing Silverfox
was the only BMX I had BITD, not got it any more but have another one very similar now... :smitten:

At the time I thought my Statton looked so pansy even with the star patten pads taken off.
And all my m8's had Burners and used to tell me my bike looked alright. Fooking scared me for life that bike !.
In the end I swapped it for a frame that I had no money to build so eventually it got thrown.
I did manage to do a pots mod on it though.
-
Scorpion TX, red with yellow Tuffs

I think (for me) that low end bikes can still be pricey... I love mongoose wire wheels but so far I have spent just as much as I did on my street beat for example. As I wanted/am trying to find era specific or factory parts. in all honesty I have found it harder to find factory parts that are in good nick. It's easier to buy a pro neck or suntour stem then it is to buy a wire wheel stem(probably all thrown in the bin :LolLolLolLol:)
What needs to change maybe is the opinions of low spec bikes, its a
Bmx at the end of the day and its history. You can't beat that feeling of riding the same bike you had as a kid.
Low spec or top of the range... Doesn't Matter ,as they are just as important as each other.
-
I borrowed a bike from a mate for a couple of months till I got my own, which was a Pro-Star :daumenhoch:
Pro-Star here too , my first bike ;) . Chrome with the blue parts , and back then we didn't call them DB Pro-Star ::).
-
Raleigh Burnet GS from the catalogue :4_17_5:
-
MT Racing Silverfox (still got it) :smitten:
Same for me Nath ..... and i still have mine aswell :smitten:
-
Tear-drop tubed Freeway, blue acorn mags (the thin'ns) for me - bought all the bits and built it with my dad. Got most of the parts from a bloke that sold bmx bits out of his garage in Beverley called Percy Bolton I seem to remember.
-
I was using my mates Robinson for the first three months of me racing , then my mum got me a GT from Alan's .
-
I find it amazing how few people had decent bikes, so far the only people I know of who had a decent BMX BITD were Ash with his PK Ripper, Carl with his GT, Steve69 with his VDC Changa and my brother with his CW Phaze 1 (only because my mum & dad won the Frameset at a raffle). I, incidentally had a crappy Super Burner (not even the Tuff version) from which the 'gold' peeled off very rapidly.
Perhaps that's why I like the good stuff now. :-\
-
Red Moto - One, snapped this after 2 months, then Blue & Yellow Pro- Star
-
Tioga Rhinocharge with really crap parts. Then my dad bought a bike shop and I had a different bmx every week lol :2funny:
-
Just like Pickle I had a silver/grey/blue GS Burner.... mine must have been a steal cos me dad got it from the Catalogue Shop in Worcester. ( My dad was a printer back in the 80s and they printed all the kays/gratton catalogues in Worcester strangely )
I loved it but it really was the poor man's ultra burner :smitten:
-

-
A Supertuff Burner or whatever they were called, promptly swapped the frame, forks & bars to a DP Firebird as the Burner geometry was gash (sorry Burner lovers)!
-
Mark 1 Extra Burner.
Broke everything on it . Went back under warranty hell atleast 6 times 4 bent forks and snapped frame etc . Broke it in half once aswell :2funny: Great uncle had a bike shop and had links with Raleigh so was easy 2 get sorted .
Saved enough in the end and bought my MRD expert F&F :smitten: The rest is history . Giving birth 2 my obsession ::)
-
My younger brother got a Tuff Burner which I used to borrow a lot so I got a Super Tuff Burner.
-
My pro-star went back twice under the guarantee. Second time they knocked me back and said was misusing it.
-
Mongoose wire wheel, coaster brake and goose neck stem, remember riding it out of the shop and nearly going straight over the bars as the coaster kicked in :LolLolLolLol:
-
My first bmx was a Blue/ Chrome Pro Star that I rode to death everywhere, weighed a ton but shone like a star and I loved it, we're I went my Pro Star went even with my girlfriends I used to Taxi on it ....
I started Racing at 13 and decided it was a Tank so it was Robinson Pro time and that baby would fly.... :smitten:
-
My first bmx was a Huffy, not sure what model. It was white with red popper pads. i still have the red seat cover.
Then my dad took me to Alans for my much loved Diamondback Silver streak 2. :smitten: I had the best bike in our gang ;)
