just found this and thought it might make a change from the regular London rides
(http://leukaemialymphomaresearch.org.uk/sites/default/files/styles/940x550responsive/public/lb_26route.png?itok=0iLCFXpD)
My father-in-law died from lymphoma not long back so for me it's a very worthwhile cause.
Anyone else fancy it? 26 miles is not that far and it looks like a nice route - costs £25 to register and you get a free t-shirt to wear with pride (or keep your bike chain clean)
Let me know & maybe we can put a Rad team together.....
http://leukaemialymphomaresearch.org.uk/londonbikeathon
We can still get pissed up and have a curry afterwards if you like ;)
-
26 miles on a bmx.....now thats a proper ride :daumenhoch:

26 miles on a bmx.....now thats a proper ride :daumenhoch:
It's not half as bad as you might think, we've already had a couple of London to Brighton runs on BMX bikes and the recent London to Cambridge one was even further. Even the 'booze cruise' rides I've been on have still covered a fair distance
I would recommend padded shorts though :D
-
Griff I am in - Dodgy ticker and all :daumenhoch:
-
fantastic Bretty :4_17_5:
we can take it nice and slow ;)
if there's 2 of us that constitutes a team in my book, so who's with us?
I'll register at the weekend and set up a fundraising page etc
gonna be something to look forward to after MK
get your names down peeps!
-
Bollocks, I'm in Canada :-[
-
Just registered for the ride and set up my justgiving page - so no getting out of it now!!! :D
Whoever wants to join let me know your details and I'll get a team page set up :daumenhoch:

Incredible response so far :LolLolLolLol:
Very glad to say Brettypeeps has stepped up to the challenge, would be great to see a few more radsters get their names down :daumenhoch:
-
Already booked for something else :(
-
There no way I'd make it. :-[

There no way I'd make it. :-[
that's rubbish Ad
I've seen you still going strong pedalling back to the station after a London piss up
Despite the fact that you were leathered there was no stopping you*
Just skip the 3 pints of shandy and you'll be fine :4_17_5:
*apart from the fact that your crank arm kept falling off and you occasionally fell into the bollards/fence/street full of people
-
could be persuaded to do this but may need some hospitality at Mr peeps house the night befor :LolLolLolLol:

Good stuff Matt :daumenhoch:
That's a good distance for you to travel too :4_17_5:
Just had to amend my page after finding out that my company only do fund matching for events relating to their 'official' charity (Save the Children), bit of a shame but doing OK so far with the sponsors :)
-
UPDATE!
so far have had hardly any response :LolLolLolLol:
while I'm very happy to be riding alongside bretty and maybe matt, it would be lovely if anyone from the actual village of london could join us.....
it's really not that far and there's no rule that I'm aware of that says you're not allowed a couple of shandies on the way round ;)
-
I am just registering for the ride now Griff :daumenhoch: I did think there would be more doing this ;)
-
Would be well up for this if i wasn't so busy at work :yahoo_silent:

Nice one Craig ;)
Was about to bump this thread to see if any Londoners fancied coming on a LONDON ride :D
It's something to look forward to now MK is over...
-
Merde only just seen this John. Would be hard for me to get sponsors so close after the London to Cambridge f*@^~#r and it also drops on my birthday weekend which I am scheduled to be out of body. Will sling you some sponsorship in due course though. Top stuff to the lads who have signed up. Good luck, great cause. :4_17_5:

No worries Lee - hoping we get a few more lads out but happy to roll along with the team we have :daumenhoch:
Would have thought a few more Londoners would be up for this though for some reason ???
-
If it wasn't for the timings i'd be well up for it, was doing 20 and 30 milers as training for the other monsters. It ain't that bad radsters..... :daumenhoch:
-
I'm on another charity ride for the RAC on the 15th Sept! :( That does look like a cracking route though, good luck all.
-
I did have a brief chat with you about this at MK Griff.
Just checked my diary and unfortunately I am in.
So add 1 more to the list, I will register later when I get in.
:daumenhoch:
-
Nice one Jimbo :daumenhoch:
Now let's see how many more slackers we can get!
What bikes are people riding?
I've only got the Silverfox at the mo
Bretty's letting his highest bidder choose out of his collection - nice idea, fingers crossed it's not the mini firebird though :D
-
haha good luck
I'm using my TA cruiser with a broom handle for the seatpost, padded seat and padded shorts will be the order of the day.
26 miles shouldn't be too bad, will be a blast with a bmx crew.
I did the London - Cambridge on my mountain bike and that wasnt too bad.
-
you'll breeze it on that mate
26 is very doable anyway - would def recommend padded shorts if you can (under clothes obviously, no-one wants to see a middle agaed man in spandex). Gel seat cover or a padded seat is also a good idea :daumenhoch:
-
I'm gonna go Superman stylee and wear them on the outside ::)
-
superman pants might work on a TA if you go for the red and blue theme as well
don't forget the cape
-
Welcome aboard Jim :daumenhoch:
Ill prob be taking the SE Quad or my Redline 500a both are so nice to ride.
-
All signed up, but my account clashes with somebody already listed as Jim Wiseman :-[
So will put all donations through your account Griff. :daumenhoch:
Have you set a team up yet?

Just a thought chaps, have you thought of going with Virgin Money Giving instead og Justgiving? They don't charge the charities or charge on gift aid etc so all your hard earned funds go direct to where they are supposed to....

HI Griff,
I want to say yes to this but will not know until closer to the time as I am not sure if we will be going away as we have a caravan on the the south coasts so may go there weather dependant. There is also the Birmingham ride on the day before which I also hope to be going to. Whats the latest to be able to sign up to the ride?
Either way I will sponsor you guys if I cant make it. :daumenhoch:

Looks like we might have some shitty weather after all, they've forecast some strong winds and occasional heavy showers ::)
Soggy :bump:
-
Well that went well :)
Think our time was 3.5 hours (much quicker than expected!), got a bit of drizzle but the proper rain only came after we finished & got to the pub for a celebratory roast dinner & pint
Great ride out with a great bunch of lads & we raised a nice pile of cash at the same time :daumenhoch:
Donation page still open so feel free to chuck us a quid or two if you haven't already :)
Will post some pics when I get back, just waiting for the train home from Richmond ghetto
-
well done lads :4_17_5: .. Looking forward to the photos .. :daumenhoch:
