So this time I have gone as far back to the roots of BMX as I think we can get.
This is a Bob Devitt 1970 Schwinn Stingray factory bike, the frame and forks are the original nickel plate (only available to factory riders) and it is in lovely condition.
I absolutely love this bike and it took about 2 years to find the factory frame and forks and also to get the parts together as they were very specific parts to find.
I love the moped rims built up with heavy duty spokes and rear Atom drum brake. It also has schwinn diamond cranks with twin speed front 3 Arrows chainrings with Union Rat-trap pedals.
Joe Buffardi in the USA also put one of these replica's together recently and that was a beauty indeed where this bike differs from his is that this one has the factory twin speed 3 Arrows front chainring with Huret two speed front derailleur and Shimano rear chain tensioner (it is not a rear derailleur just a tensioner). Obviously also this one has OG nickel finish instead of being nickel plated.
So this is another of my entries into the Vintage S&S category this year along with my revamped R&R and my LRV monoshock.

The Stem in the picture is a Trickray MX stem (which I think I have just sourced) and the seatpost is being replicated this weekend.
I was sorting the seatpost yesterday but got a piece of metal in my eye and had to go to the hospital to get it removed, so no work being done on it until Monday now.

Incredible
The bike looks like a right old work horse with it's heavy duty wheels and extra bits of frame everywhere........................and then you look at the forks. They don't look strong at all. :)
