Just looking at a couple of pictures from Skegwhatever from Ian's facebook page and i can see people doing it.
Why oh why do people feel compelled to twist your grips and pull your brake levers half a dozen times on show bikes??
It amazes me how many people tried the brakes on my beats.........YES THEY ARE BRAKE LEVERS AND RUBBER GRIPS! they feel the same as yours do on your bikes, or the last ones you've just put your grubby fooking mitts all over!
just wondered like? ;D
-
Yeah its a bit of a strange one that....but youre right, its the first thing that people wanna mess with :LolLolLolLol:
-
Add "must spin the pedals" to that list too Rob :LolLolLolLol:
-
:LolLolLolLol: like people who sit on motorbikes and twist the throttle, even though its not running.
Or sitting in your car and steering and changing gear, again even though its not running.
Must just be a bloke thing Rob. Just don't let them near your missus. ???
-
The levers on my 88 red beat are fooking expensive Tech 7's and the grips are old bubble font Tri's...........i'm sure if someone actually broke one of the levers (not a real possibility i guess but they could be just held together, no one knows) would they be willing to pay the £100 for another set? and you try finding a set of Tech 7's! >:(
fooking winds me up!
-
Wire the bars and levers up to the mains, that will stop them.
-
what a great idea! ;D

yep and everybody knows that tech 7's only have about 1000 squeezes before they just fall apart and disappear
how dare they
jim I always shift the gears on cars I get into :LolLolLolLol:
and always will
I don't make vroom vroom noises though

That was aimed squarely at you Dave :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
Apologies for also not talking to you at MK, kept looking at you and thinking "i know that guy" lol
I had a workmate who bought a brand new Triumph motorbike, brought it into work to show it to a few people and another work colleague done the whole twisting of the throttle scenario and promptly snapped the throttle cable. Apparently they were designed to stop them being twisted when the engine wasnt running. Said mate with bike was not happy at all had to get it transported back to dealer to get the cable fixed.
-
My Nos white MRD ariete grips on 1 of my builds are bloody filthy :LolLolLolLol: I had bags over them before MK . But he ho :D

I know what you mean
I took my blue Knight and two Performers to a new school freestyle show and all the kids pointed and laughed at the height of the seats and squeezed the brake levers. Then I realised they didn't have any brakes on their bikes and it was a novelty thing!
Growling at them soon stopped it :LolLolLolLol:
-
pulling brakes and twisting grips whats that all about ... its a new one on me :LolLolLolLol: really looking forward to M.K. 14 all them clean grips and squeezy levers >:D "bump"
-
I saw you doing it a couple of times Rob
-
I saw you doing it a couple of times Rob
only to himself :LolLolLolLol:
-
Yeah, but it's not as nice as running your hand up their back to the nape of the their neck and fondling their buttocks :daumenhoch:
-
moaning ole fookers ya are ;D
-
;D
-
I apologise for my son spinning your pedals. :-[
-
Saw the same twist of grips and the pull of levers on my beats too at mk....also saw someone pressing down on the tyres like they were trying to resuscitate them to check air inflation!! WTF !!! Get your greasy mitts off my tioga comp ramps you fooking bell end...it's a show bike !! :knuppel2:
-
I must admit, Rob.. I went a whole lot further than pulling brakes.. Jumped on Adams AP and rode the fooker around the helipad.. And set it up for a 180.. But he saw me at that point! No love was lost.. He just said. So that's how you get on it ;)
-
Another problem i saw at MK were the gimps that decided to take their own bikes in to the show tents. They didn't push them round, they sat on the thuckers and rolled around looking at the show bikes. Some of the twonks had those stupid stunt peg things on aswell. :Aresehole:
Leave them out phukin side next time. :buck2:
-
I did it so I could feel closer to you :smitten:
Its the same with classic car shows with people touching cars you've spent hours getting it "show" ready :uglystupid2:
And sticking there fingers into the engine bays ...... WHY !!!!!!!
I was at the National Motorbike Museum a few months back and there was a bloke with his young lad and every fooookin bike he twisted the grip or prodded it :tickedoff:
His young lad was getting well embarrassed :daumenhoch:
-
maybe put up a BIG FOOKING SIGN SAYING " DON'T TOUCH" MIGHT HELP NEXT TIME..... :police:
-
They wouldn't like it if u had a good squeeze of their misses fun bags as a retort :LolLolLolLol:
-
I noticed this too, but don't give a fook as all my rides are thrashed, but the most fun came from telling people they could have a go if they wanted, some where too gobsmacked, some just sat on them rolled backwards and forwards squeezing the brakes and twisting the grips, rob did half a lap of the helipad on my Irish and some bloke disappeared for about 20mins on my freestyler!!!!!

I did this a few years back letting some kid rag my Subrosa round the track, he was like :wtf: but took it out and was gone for about an hour, came back grinning from ear to ear, he loved it.
-
I did it with my MRD Pro and Expert riders a few years ago :daumenhoch: Peeps loved it 8)
-
its probably some primeval residual instinct from a time when it was vital to know if there was enough air in the tyres and if the grips were tight.
-
I let a friend loose on my Haro Group 1 and he loved it that much he bugged me until I sold him it :LolLolLolLol:
-
its the same as tyre kickers when they are looking at buying a car :wtf:
-
i had my pro performer and my mini pro performer at skegvegas and watched loads of people play with the brakes, twist grips,
spin pedals and even had to stop someone sitting on them!!! :2gunsfiring_v1: its so annoying. the line up of OS bikes were probably
worth more that most of the cars on the show field :uglystupid2:
i have a beetle that i show as well and trust me its worse with cars, i had to re upholster part of my interior at the end of last season
because people had rubbed the alcantara bald!!!!!! ive also stopped people sitting in it, leaning on, standing on the running boards, messing with the head unit and picking at the paint work!! but none of this is as bad as a mate of mine that shows his bay window camper. he came back to his van to find a family sat inside having their lunch!!! :wtf: :wtf:
-
Here's someone else at it ::)

....thinking "dude, please dont twist.." ;D

-
I can hear them now "show this one to that duche Pickle" ;D
-
this is one of my pet hates to rob,why do people feel the need to do it :uglystupid2:
when i took some bikes to show in colone kids and adults were even trying to sit on them when they were
on there show stands :idiot2:
-
I love the feel of your grips and pulling your £100.00 levers it makes me feel good :crazy2:

My turn ;D Brum Brum Brum :tickedoff:
-
I put a hubba bubba wrapper in some ones seat tube... lucky for the owner, it was a shit build so it didn't count. :daumenhoch:
Keep it old school clown shoes.
-
Just think of it as quality control.
They are checking to see if you have the built the bike properly :police:
-
to be honest i think we are all guilty of the above a some stage. ever get the urge to pick them up to see how light??!!

He can't help it Lenny
I want to see the inside of his helicopter and get a feel of his joystick :teef:
-
We used to have this go on in the bike shop I worked at. No idea why they have to do this either.
-
:LolLolLolLol: At nick ;D
-
I must be honest, I sometimes pull the lever on bikes to see how well they are set up. Its almost like an indicator of how well a bike has been put together.
Dont get me wrong, I never walk around yanking on everyones levers, but if I bike looks like its been well put together I will give them a squeeze just to make sure its not just a pretty face. :LolLolLolLol:
