Can you strip the annodise of and have a shinny silver finish underneath
-
no and yes
no you cant strip the anno as they are not anno they are painted! so you can strip the paint
yes once stripped you can polish them up to anywhere from dull alloy to mirror shine with enough time and patience :daumenhoch:

:daumenhoch:

this is a nightmare job, once you stripped one set of shimanos you wont bother again!! "nono"
-
really ??? ???
ive done 3 sets including re-shaping, polishing and a full axle replacement (new cups, bearings, washers etc..) and new end caps
didnt take too long (around 1 hour per pedal) and was quite easy
-
I'm looking forward to doing mine
does anyone know if Haro Fusion DX spindles/bits would work? Ed has kindly offered to let me have back the pedals I sold him at MK

Yeparoonie they do Griff :daumenhoch: From memory you don't have to swap over the bearings/cone nuts etc either.
-
thanks Dan :daumenhoch:
need to give mine a good clean & replace a few missing pins that didn't show up in the sale pics ::) but ends aren't too badly scuffed at all - saw in another thread that sawn off bits of rivet can be used as pins so will see if I can get hold of some and have a bash at fixing them
stupid question but were the silver ones painted?

take it you used nitromors not synstrip :2funny: :2funny:
griff you can also use the halfords fpd alloy platform pedal (£12.99) axle bearings, bearing cups etc.... all fit the bare dx body :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:
-
so synstrip will do the job ? got to sets that I need to put my fingers to :slayer:
-
there painted so any paint stripper will work, nitromors will obviously take a little longer than synstrip (im sure i used it on my first set and even then it didnt take too long)

I agree. Dont use girly paint stripper either get right in there with the nasty weapons grade stuff as the paint is fairly hard to remove, especially in the corners.

I just left mine in a tub of thinners for a couple of days, it then all just practically wiped off....
