Title: fork crown race not snug
Post by: Jim on September 11, 2013, 06:17 PM
ok so I replaced my copy landing gear with some stamped landing gear. the fork crown popped off the old forks with a wee bit of force but when I put it on the new forks its not a snug fit. I slipped the bearings on and rebuilt and it seems fine no wobbles? anyone has a similar issue or advice it would be gratefully received..... "help"

Often happens. Cut down a coke can and wrap a couple of centimeters round the base of the forks and tap the crown back on.

If it fits ok, with no wobbles then you have no issues, if it slips a bit, do the can thing. I used to find that cheaper headsets were always a bit easier to fit the crown race on, but harder to get the cups in.
