I know it's ebay but is this a fairly sensible price?

Somebody thought it's worth it "nono"
-
For that Gen 1 Freestyler?
All day.
-
Was talking to Steve about it he said it would go for £2400 !! He's was a pound out ,but he is a vdc expert.
Tis a lot of money but very rare
-
So were they produced in limited numbers or aren't there many left?

how rare are they then ???
I thought there was quite a few about or is the gen 1 different to the rest ???
-
How many do you know of?
-
seems a few on the museum & must be some on here .some may be the same bike listed by different owners though
-
Dan Harris had a nice white one I think ???
-
Is the general consensus that these are more rare than say a Targa?
-
Have you bought it then Rich ???
Not long now

Nice ???
Maybe in a weird VDC kind of way :-\
-
I can appreciate how rare, and why they go for a lot of cash. But aesthetically, ugly as sin for me. Doesn't know what it's trying to do

:LolLolLolLol: of course! What did you think I was talking about?
-
about 100-150 vdc freestylers were made in total in 3 generations i think the one i had was the gen 2 , very rarely come up for sale and the ones that have have been $4000 ish , whether they should be worth that sort of money who knows but they are top of the tree sort of speak , it just shows the top stuff still fetches the money
-
I was watching it on ebay too. Ugly in my opinion, but i love the changa. VDC's do seem to really spilt opinion.
-
Only 8 freestylers on the museum and Subwax owns three of them well two now as that's his sale.
-
When i had all my VDC's this is what i was after.. i would have paid that price easy.
Subwax has a lot more than 3 i think ::)
-
Is the general consensus that these are more rare than say a Targa?
Well...??!
.
I only know of 3 Targa's Rich , I haven't scoured the museum but i bet there ain't many more :-\ Alan thought he had the only one at one point . Are you thinking of selling ??

Wouldn't be surprised he has/had some unbelievable stuff.

Ha! No Joff, I don't think I ever will!
But seeing as that seems to be an acceptable value for that VDC I presumed that something like the Targa would surely be of similar value... :-\

Torker were going to produce a lightweight frame at the tail end of 84/early 85 but as you know Steve had to close the business in late 84. They did however produce prototypes that the race team used...I believe Richie Anderson used one.
-
I know what your on about now :daumenhoch:
-
VDC's are ludicrously overpriced, they are an awful ride, tiny.
Aesthetically they are one of those love it or hate it kind of frame sets.

Isn't your whip of choice a Brompton? Doesn't quite qualify you for BMX frameset reviews now does it? :LolLolLolLol:

, they are an awful ride, tiny.
my ( now Sams ) changa long was quite nice to ride and in no way tiny

Yes I would imagine a Changa long is far nicer to ride and is not tiny based upon it being long.
Alas the one I have is standard and I find it tiny.

trouble is rich rare doesn't always = money, really rare stuff that you can count known examples on one hand never seem to reach the values of more mainstream stuff. Remember the holeshot rf1 a while back, only one that's surfaced & seller wanted 1500 for a complete bike.. never heard if it sold though.

Indeed, rare is not a prerequisite for high value.
I suppose to a certain degree it's quite subjective...

forgive me but when you used the word " They " i just presumed you meant the whole range , i did try reading your mind to see if you were on about the standard changa and the word " They " was a slip but alas cant pick much up when its overcast

...and what I have said is true.
The market audience for BMX bikes in the 80's was indeed for around the 12 year old age group.
How many threads do you see on this forum where members refer to BMX as being 'Kids Bikes'?
-
Oi you lot no spats in this thread that do not concern the subject matter.

Sorry Rich, I was just confused as to how Brompton riders qualify to review VDC's and as to how 12 year old's can afford to buy them. :daumenhoch:
Maybe Stella will come up with an educated answer in the thread he started on the Burner forum. :LolLolLolLol:

I qualify to comment because I own and occasionally ride a VDC, thats all.

There is a way to stop this-
