-
29 is not old rob lol, just can't afford to go on a plane for a few years after buying the bigger house, I remember how much I loved the caravanning when I was a kid so thought I'd give it ago...
-
29
-
Youll probably be better off renting a static caravan to be fair Olly.....it'd probably work out cheaper over the time....
We paid £150 for a 5 day break in Weymouth....think of how many of those you could have over the 3 years :daumenhoch:
-
yeah i agree, used to love holidaying in them as a kid :daumenhoch:
-
Get some beds put in this ;)

The way I'm thinking gav is in the summer we can just get the forecast for the weekend load up and go, also I'm only a half hr drive from new forest, hour or so from Weymouth etc etc, I have space to store it as my drive is huge, so why not at least I don't have to book etc I can come and go as I please and in the summer (school holidays) your pay the same price for a static caravan as you would going to Spain I've just been looking now, this week at a haven in Devon 3-4 nights for 2 adults +2 children is £90 and that's a silver lodge, in 2 weeks (half term) it's fecking £300!! Now that takes the piss!
-
I agree dude that the school holiday prices take the pi$$.....it really isnt funny :(
And I suppose realistically if you go for a caravan you can always get some money back when youre ready to sell etc.... How much does it cost to park a caravan up at a site? Obviously with electric hookup etc....and in the school holidays? I know the worlds your oyster with where you can take it but the Haven site we stayed at wanted about 130 for the week in a caravan.
-
My mate went to Cornwall in his in the Sumer holidays and its between 15-£20 a day so not mega bucks, ithink if I spen £1500 give it ago next year il prob get my money bk if we don't like it, or if we do up grade to a 18berth £30,000 house on wheels lol

A guy at work just did that math on this and you don't save any money on a caravan vs going abroad. Obviously it depends where you go abroad, but taking average prices from most travel agents you wont save anything. Add to the fact you need to store it, maintain it, tow the thing around, etc, etc, it works out to be a hefty investment.
If you want to caravan because you are passionate about camping but don't like tents, then go for it. But if you think its a cheaper holiday option best stay clear. :daumenhoch:

I can't see that Jon to be honest, a run off the meal all inclusive holiday to say Egypt for 2 weeks is around 4k...

But you are not going to take your caravan to Egypt, you are going to drive it around the UK. ;)
All Im saying is do the math. :daumenhoch: And not just what it costs to buy, but what it will cost to run and maintain each year. Also keep in mind they are planning on introducing MOT's for caravans shortly as well. My buddy was dead set on a caravan but quickly turned off it after doing the sums.
-
I reckon storage will be the biggest bill at over a £1000 a year but I don't need that as stated I have a massive drive;)
-
Plus they'l call you Pikey Olly.....or even worse....Polly ;D

Thats this country all over . First they raise tax so people can afford to go abroad then people adapt and buy caravans . So they slap another TAX on that . Its a trailer no more no less . Unreal
The second hand caravan market is booming . Looks like their going to kick the arse out of that too

Yes your right on that, but please people this wasn't a "what do you guys think" post but a wanted add :daumenhoch:
