Just bought this 1981 Euro BB GT Pro with undrilled forks, a good friend brought this it in from the States earlier this year.
I believe from comments the Euro BB is rare in the GT Pro frame :-\ Would like to know more about these if anyone can pass on information.
I do have some parts lying about for this build, got to decide the colour to go with this build, my other 83 Pro is built using Yellow and Gold Anno, its hard to make the GT build work and be satisfied with a blue or Red colour thrown in there... ;)

This is a rare frame IMO ... i never seen one :coolsmiley:
Looks great , nice built :4_17_5:

What does the top tube measure? centre of seat post to centre of head tube, I'm asking as a euro BB usually belongs to jnr/expert frames of this era :daumenhoch:
-
Is it stamped as a pro? 3 or a 4?
Nice frame regardless like, we just need to know if pro or expert. Hence the top tube measurement. :4_17_5:
-
My 83 GT Pro has the 4 stamped on the drop out which I am told means Pro size and that's 18.5" I think.
The 81 Euro is exactly the same dimensions so I hope to be right.
I have just had them both out they are exactly the same size when placed side by side, seat tube to Head set exactly the same in dimension, also the same dimensions centre of BB to top of seat tube too.
The 83 Has the 4 stamped on the drop out.
One thing I just learned was the down tube from the Head set to the BB is a smaller diameter tube on the Euro BB that on my US BB model too ???

Hi Patric,
Sorry if I confused you, it isn't built yet the gold Chrome one is another one I have in the collection. 8)

Yep pro's have that stamped.4 and the top tube is correct. So this has a threaded bottom bracket rather then cups?

Thanks Sid,
Yes it is threaded and the BB is in there, think its a Tange one, I was told its a rare one when I bought it but I am no BMX expert, I rely on the Radsters and my old Pals Uncle Joffrey and Mr Robinson Carlos.
Do I really need two GT Pro's... :-\ ...........:-\ this means "On second thought.." :LolLolLolLol:
-
Yes and if not sell me one please... :4_17_5:

You won't go wrong with a GT Pro Sid, they ride really well, one of the best ride's I have, up there with the Loopy Ripper for sure.
The GT for me is an Icon of Bmx frame design :4_17_5:

Stunning and rare frame and forks .. Love it :smitten:

Posted up on the Museum albeit no reply to the thread as yet, guess I will try to google it see what I can find out.
Been through some pics on the Meuseum and not seen an 81 Pro Euro BB in fact not seen a Pro Euro BB come to mention.
The only thing I came across was a reference to the 81 GT frame has a smaller down tube from BB to head stock with and the picture shows an American BB in the shot not Euro. :smiley6600:
flexi eh... "help"
It won't be doing any more flexing it'll be chilling out looking mega soon

Have you got a link to the thread on the museum Darren , i can't find it :-\

Nice frame set :coolsmiley:
Is there any number stamped below/near the serial?
What's the TT length?
I reckon it's the GT-3 on this ad.
BMXsociety might be better for info, a bunch a analists they may be but definitely better for info like this than the BMXmuseum.

Top tube length is 18.5" long exactly the same size frame as my 83 Pro with the 4 stamped drop out.
I cant be 100% on seeing another ID number apart from the serial number starting 481..stamped on the inside of the driveside dropout albeit it has suffered a bit of scuffing from the rear drive at sometime covering what looks like it might be a single diget i cant make out albeit looks like a P or maybe a number 4 if that makes sense.

It's definitely a GT Pro with a Euro BB, like the one in the ad, a very rare bird indeed.

Cheers Mate that's good news, my other GT4 is a 83 Nora Cup Pro with the American BB so to have 2 Pro's in Chrome with the different BB's completes the set for me on GT's...
Gotta build it now and have some nice bits here for it.
Blinged up Pro Class rims with Campag large flange Tipo hubs I think to set the build off to a good start :daumenhoch:
