Just picked up an ebay purchase & the seat post on the bike is a braced layback with a vdc sticker on it , the guy reckons its authentic but is there any stamping to look for or does anyone know if vdc even made one ????
-
I have heard elsewhere that they did make a layback bor not sure about braced. As far as I know the only stamped VDC posts were the fluted ones and the solid alloy ones.
I could, and probably am completely wrong though, Steve69 would be the man to ask. :daumenhoch:

Cheers Adam, Got to be honest i haven't got a clue ?
I know that did make lay-backs & I also have seen stamped fluted alloy posts too but i'm not sure about this one, Interesting positioning of the seat guts as well ! How the hell did they get that on ???

Looks like a Tioga post to me!!
-
It would look lovely attached to a wall with a nice winter hanging basket on it

:LolLolLolLol: you can force them open when off and the close them again with a g clamp. Getting it off maybe a little more tricky. I would clamor the back in a vice and tap the lugs open.
Good luck. :daumenhoch:

Is it reinforced inside if it is then it's a Tioga post.

Your'e not wrong there !
Cant see any re enforcing
To be honest paid a lot for the bike & i'm just hoping to claw back some of the expenditure by selling off a few of the parts from the complete that i wont be using in the rebuild. The spec wasn't quite as expected so any help identifying this would be helpful in order to get a ball park figure of what i should be asking (if anything).

looks long enough to be VDC

End to end is 21" if that helps.

Could well be at that length ,they were notorious for their length.

Interesting Terry, The angle of the bend & the positioning & size of the brace on the two posts look identical. There looks to be around 5-10mm more on the chrome one on the museum (at the top) where the seat fits & mine looks to be slightly longer in at the other end giving more height. Also the brace size & with look identical .... What do you reckon ?

According to the US seller, he bought the post from a UK member with all the 'VDC' stuff. I think that is a Rad member :daumenhoch:

I would hazard a guess at Neil Subwax.

He hasn't, you could try contacting him via Rewind or 'wunderwend' on EBay. :daumenhoch:
