Title: Let's see your JMC's
Post by: rooski on October 22, 2013, 07:38 PM
Come on let's see em.

Want to see bikes you have owned, still own etc :daumenhoch:,would be interesting to see different builds of the same f+f :)

Bit of history too, where it came from, where it went etc

Here's my 1984 Shadow,bought f+f off ebay 2 years ago,fresh on the scene :D

Very nice Andy, caught my eye at MK that did.
Here's mine:

84 Andy Patterson with AP bars:

Bought the bike complete from Crazy Craig at MK12 and stripped it down immediately including the chrome until I could find the right bars, took me a year but well worth it I think.

And it's little brother, an XL:

Bought the frameset from EBay for a song, stripped the chrome and rebuilt it a year or two later to match my AP.

This is my candy blue Shadow, bought the f/f from Markj and I believe it belonged to JT before him.

Here yo go Andy - my restored JMC DY - sorry if my post is a bit big, if it is let me know  ;)

Found it.... in a damp cellar sat in a puddle rotting away

(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/c51/baldbmxer/JMC%20DY/DYRESTO1.jpg) (http://s25.photobucket.com/user/baldbmxer/media/JMC%20DY/DYRESTO1.jpg.html)

Looked at it....

Cleaned it and looked at it a bit more.....

Sent it to Phil Sawzal  :coolsmiley: ..... who started to work his magic

Got lucky on a badly listed GT with JMC DY forks and bars on it. The Bottema race forks were replaced and the DY parts rechromed....

After going through a boat load of swatches a colour was picked and the pain mixed. The paint was applied by a good friend Johnny Robinson....

That blue DY is stunning. And I can't believe you bought a set of AP bars for £75, how long ago was that? Any idea where they are now?

I got my set from Alan's for £45. ended up trading them with Lee for a pair of Profile cranks and a pair of Ti/mag hubs.

One of my first OS rebuilds in 2004. My JMC Shadow from 84. Bet the forks at Heywood in an OS race and never felt right about riding it after that so sold it in 2006 ish to buy a Patterson  :)

Bought this off a member (BMX796?) in 2009 ish and love it 1980 JMC Standard long. Still not finished yet (this is a very temporary set up in the photo's) but may be for an MK soon I'll get my finger out.

Jaan, not seen this before, nice bike ,where did this come from  ???

Steve, think Kappy got that one  ???

No, I have Thrashers Shadow  :daumenhoch:

Actually KAP did have the Shadow from Thrasher, then it went to another collector and recently made its way to me so it really has travelled  :daumenhoch:

Chris

I imagine it wil stay with you longer than it did with the two previous owners  ???

You're 100% correct brother.

Bigplinky's Shadow later became mine, which then went onto Mark J.

Looking through here, I reckon my Short Standard once belonged to JT, then it went to Mark James who had it featured in Rad Rides and now its with me… I guess I need to ask one of them.

Judging by the number of different owners of the same f+f there's not that many about ???

Suppose this is the same with most o/s bikes ???

I have a DY that belonged to Christian which I think also was once owned by JT so at least 2 of my JMC have had the same previous owner (I think).
