Been trying to budge these caps, don't want to jam a screwdriver in there and fook up the seal, but they're not moving yet
Any tips on how to shift them without fookin em up?
-
have damaged a few sets over the years :(
hairdryer and a squirt of wd maybe?
not sure john
-
I used a Stanley knife blade , Very carefully .. :daumenhoch:
-
you need to find some thing like curved pliers and they should sit in the holed and turn slowly
you could also find some rubber and use the same principle as unscrewing a jam jar - twist with pressure
-
Are they threaded, or do they just push in?
Tried to get end of craft knife in, but the end broke off ::)
-
They are threaded Griff, turn anti-clockwise to undo.
If the ends of the pedals are scuffed, you will have a job getting them out. Find a really thin screwdriver, pierce the cap near the outside, push in at an angle against the inside of the cap at the outer edge and turn it. It will make a small hole, obviously, but as you are using the screwdriver balded edge, the hole will be small and when you take out the screwdriver, it will close again.
I hope that makes sense :LolLolLolLol:

Run them under the hot tap for a bit, smidgen of washing up liquid in.
Repeat.
Then take your highly technical dx end cap removal tool, twist and bobs your uncle.
Now just keep your fingers crossed that your lass doesn't suss out where you got the dx end cap removal tool from or you could be for the high jump ;D

Update
So far I have achieved a 50% success rate :slayer:
None of the forks in the cutlery drawer were wide enough, but the big 2 prong barbecue fork was spot on with no need for modifications :daumenhoch:
Got one cap out, the other is stuck fast (am guessing due to pedal scuffing, but surprised as they're not in bad nick)
Unfortunately the 'holes' in the cap have suffered some slight damage, nothing too ugly but now I've got nothing to push against ::)
Think I'm going to wait & get a second opinion, rather than risk completely wrecking it and having to try and find another..

show some pic's Griff ???

I can't be arsed right now, everything is packed away & my phone has died
But just imagine one pedal with the cap successfully removed and the other with it still stuck in :teef:
