Title: Room 101
Post by: Gashead on October 26, 2013, 07:51 PM
Just as a giggle, what BMX or part or related item, should over the years be sent to the room of shame.

And please, no reference to the 'Nottingham' made cycles !

Play nicely now  :4_17_5:

Tioga Utra Dyno cranks (wobbled after 3 days riding... i think they were made out of old soup cans ...shite!)
Shimano 600's ...flexed like hell .... i think bananas would've made sturdier cranks!
Skyway tuff pedals......looked cool but the cages flexed like fook & used to make snapping noises as they slipped over the plastic nipples next to the cage screws when riding.
Phil Wood pedals.....Ugly as fook & looked like cut up bits of patio door tracking!
Oakley 3's  ...ugliest grips ever!
Hare trigger levers .....used to see bits of these scattered on the track from people just sliding out!
Zeronine wildfire plates ...looked crap & way too 50's hot rod style for bmx

Then a lot of people only build bikes for show now so it's more about the look or style of the parts rather than function.

Snake posts, braced laybacks, yep I agree there.

Aeroyal seats are gopping I agree there too, but they are standard on a lot of Mk2 Burners and (Rob will shoot me here) I like building Burners.

Aeroyals aren't quite as bad as those variants, the yellow and white ones with the V decal in the side.

Redline bikes, fooking hate them.  Never liked them bitd either.

Profile cranks, the oldschool ones, cannot stand those either.

VDC Changa, no need for a bike to be so ugly. Not that keen on GJS big tubes either.

MKS Grahite pedals, no grip at all

Alloy cranks that belong on racers

Open bearing hubs for racing

Hatta sealed headsets, never got one to work yet

Most Zeronine plates as they are way too big (early MRD's fall foul of this aswell)

Chainrings over 44t and bikes with different colour seats and grips.

Rant over

I bought a white set in Nov 2008 to put in a white DP Freestyler, utter garbage.

But on the plus side, I had bought a full set off eBay for £39.99, and sold the components (blocks. cable clips etc) seperately, and nearly doubled my money.

Jesus, I've just admitted to being a *******. :LolLolLolLol:

I had one in the past 1984 .. the first Imitation GT Performer.
Did had GT performer decals on them  , back in those days.

They were weak and the rear bridge did bend down from Jumping and using it on a quaderpipe.

I believe Spartacus does have one from a friend of mine in black  :coolsmiley:

To be honest I don't really remember them. 2's were uncomfortable as you grabbed them with 4 fingers, 3's worked well but pre-bends were my favourite
