Title: Show us your very first BMX...
Post by: WINI on November 02, 2013, 10:13 AM
OK, so its probably been done before, but I love seeing the old ratty first BMX that kicked things off for everyone, and probably became the reason you are reading this right now.  I'm sure there will be a few who got a cool bike straight off the bat, but post up a pic whatever it was.  Doesn't have to be the exact bike you owned, could be a photo BITD or now.  Whatever.

I'll start it off with a POS I got in 84, aged 11.  Lasted a year, weighed a fair bit but fook I had some fun on it, and it took me on a path I'm still on.......Ladies and Gents, the Iron Horse Alien.  Mine had slightly less crap mags in the the form of Acorns.  Only one I have ever seen come up on eBay, so had to have it  :D

Nice Nick, that's what I'm talking about! I wonder how many of us got a much better BMX by hook or crook within a year of a 5hitter?

NO WAY My mate had this exact bike !!!! We thought it was light as fook at the time & it had those exact same wheels on it ! I loved the colours & the decals just knew it as an Alien couldnt remember the brand. I love this !

My first was a Kalkhoff Spitfire. My first decent BMX was a 1983 Kuwahara Nova.  :smitten:
Still have it and still ride it.

New pads, tyres, grips and some replacement decals but the rest is original. Still have the Elina UL seat and post but its too low to ride with.

hahaha -  This was my first bike aswell, there must have been zillions of them about. I really wanted a Tuff Burner but bought one of these off my mate for £35 and peeled the gold off. Think it came with Araya 7X standard though...

After the Burner debate I just found this thread ....
So my one and only BMX bitd was a Raleigh GS Burner bought from the Kay's catalogue shop in Worcester....

This was my pride and joy .... Pops really didn't understand the idea of upgrading or swapping parts so all I got to change was adding a Haro Flo Panel, a cheap checked seat cover, Landar F1s, Landar two finger levers and blue comp IIIs ( Cheng Chin )
Yes it was a POS but I loved that POS!!!

My first BMX was a Puch Trak Pro...

Sorry, no pics...

The 3 things i remember about the bike were...

No front brake...

The gearing was odd...

The front tyre was thicker than the rear - i nearly took it back to the shop to complain that they had put the wrong tyre on the front... :crazy2:

Falcon Pro Zeta...xmas 84 I think.
Took the chainguard strait off...lasted about a month before it got some landar mx2's.
Then ended up enamel sprayed white with some Wilson reynolds 501 forks, mks graphites and cheng shin white walled comp 3's. All the while riding around looking like an extra from a Duran Duran video...sweet!

Diamond Back Pro
Mines one on top one.

Knowle '81-82 Mum caught me smoking n hanging out with wrong crowd after getting bored roller skating (we used same ramps built for BMX ruining my garden). We struck a deal that I'd ride this and do my best at school. Sheet that was a lot of money! But true to my word I met a group of Radsters over the car park. Then started going Redditch and Wheels but I have no shots of that. Last pic is after winning that Halfords Tim March Jersey at Benfleet Essex track after racing Sid Salisbury. Not long after I got 'that' Ripper frame built with same parts.
I sold the DB frameset and traded bits after that. Bloody good bike and regret selling it at all but I did seriously love that Ripper!
