Well I bought this a few years ago.. fell out of love with it some how (crazy I know) :'( sold it then a year later wanted it back ready for a full resto.
There were a few dents and the seat tube was split but finding out Phil (Sawzall) was only half hour up the road from me I popped up to his to see if he was willing to take on the challenge..
Phil agreed to take a closer look at it, get stripped of the chrome/nickel pre repairing for me and then even packed up and posted to SBD.
Here are some pre pictures when I bought the 2nd time round.

And after Phil had repaired the seat tube, straightened the rear drop outs and also filled some dents. ( amazing work a big thank you to Phil.)

Sweet Goose bud :daumenhoch:
I scored one of these from Spen a couple of years back, I've just recently started getting the parts for it together so it should be ready in 6 months or so.
I'll be following this thread for inspiration and just for the love of a goose :smitten:
-
Chris, was that my nickel-plated 1980 f&f? I was trying to recall who bought it the other day but I think old age got the better of my memory :crazy2:
Didn't you have my copper coloured mk1 Mongoose f&f as well in the end..... now that was a nice frameset >:D

Spen you're down to 50% effectiveness of your memory...
I have the copper MK1 but I didn't get your nickel plated f&f :crazy2: I have a nickel DeCoster :smitten:
Although the copper colour is lovely, i'm considering painting it black for a black and yellow build...
-
50% eh Chris ???
I'm happy with that statistic mate, that's a lot more than most on folks here :2funny: :2funny:
But seriously, pleeeeeease don't strip that copper Goose, it's a one-off. Let me see if I can find another to swap it for if you're just going to powder it black

To be honest I haven't looked at it in a long time, i'm not sure what makes it a one off other than the choice of paint...
But like I said I haven't looked at it, perhaps Spen can enlighten me? ???
I'm collecting yellow parts which would go with the copper.... But not as well as black >:D
-
Just the paint job Chris. It's a standard Mongoose otherwise but it's a mk1 so getting harder to find.....

Don't know brand just a.black suede..
-
You're gonna struggle peddling that Russ - are the cranks bent mate ??? :2funny: :LolLolLolLol:
Awesome. Just awesome. Red wheels on a red bike :coolsmiley:
-
That is positively gorgeous ! :smitten:
-
Now that's a BMX!
As I mentioned earlier in the thread I'm building one of these at the moment. One point I found odd was the placement of the main Goose frame decal - top tube of down tube. What made you go with top tube for your build as I've seen survivors with the decal in both positions?
-
Looking good mate :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley:

Very nice :4_17_5: , great work done ;)

Thats turn out nice :daumenhoch:

Love that :daumenhoch:

Chris, everything old and Goose is subject to variation bud..... if JonnyGoose Bobafett was still on here, he'd be able to tell us which employee put them on which tube, and of course the more contraversial "should the red or the orange stripe of the decal go at the front" debate could re-commence....... :crazy2:
Generally I've found the Team Mongoose decal to be on the top-tube and the Supergoose decal on the inclined down-tube but of course there are exceptions. But generally this is what I've found over the years collecting Geese :coolsmiley:
Team or Super, the full cromo mk1 nickel or candy Goose is the only Goose to have IMHO >:D

Oh well, i've gone black with chrome forks but i'm not building a factory rep.
I wondered why you sold me the copper Goose and now I know - the decal was in there wrong place and it wasn't nickel or candy!!! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Nah, I sold it because I was stupid and should have kept the f&f for a rainy day Chris :uglystupid2: :'(
-
Orange stripe goes to the rear of the frame, supergoose was mainly fitted to the down tube, team was fitted to either depending whether you had a frame pad fitted or not.
The bike turned out great childhooddream
-
Well been pretty flat out with work moving house etc and with the bad weather not managed to get some pics of the bike finished.
So here it is.... after a few years building this is clearly my best build :4_17_5:
