I don't understand how people can be into old school bmx and not know any other way of buying parts, other than ebay?

I don't understand why people use eBay at all.
I use it to buy stuff like nylon washers, generic headsets, seat guts etc, but I've not bought a 'part' off there for years.
I missed out on a Piranha Freestyler about 2 and a half years ago by £6 and was devastated, it was then I decided not to get into that 'winning bid rush' and 'losing bid disappointment'.
If I can't get what I want on the forums, and put a few quid in honest people's pockets then I'm not interested.
Shill bidders and snipers have killed eBay.

To me bro, it does matter. I would never pay that price for a hinged DC clamp anyway's but, to me, if it's not 80's, then it's not going on my 80's bike.
There is a place for repops and that's on re-issue frame sets :daumenhoch:

That's crap Terry, all my bikes have repop bits on.
They suit my budget.

I understand where youre coming from......and that really is a joke of a price anyway!
Im of the mindset that I dont mind paying big for the big stuff...ie frames and wheels. Smaller stuff such as clamps should never ever fetch that sort of money. When you eventually decide to sell the bike, nobody will want it complete anyway so you will only end up splitting it up and listing each part accordingly.
If you pay 100 for a genuine clamp vs 12 for a repop.....you may only get back 60 for the genuine vs 8 for the repop :)
-
that golfs guy got 170 for a pair of 80 odd quid blue 901 brakes
-
I'm not locking horns with Terry or anyone about repop parts, they do the job and suit my budget accordingly, and if I'm honest, doubt I would pay silly money for a part that looks the sane for a fraction of the price, even if I was flush.
The way I look at it also is that people like me buying repop parts save the genuine NOS OG bits for those that are happy to pay the extra for them.
Lets be realistic here, without repop bits, everything will dry up a lot sooner than expected.
