Title: Post your mid school flatland bikes in here.
Post by: Discostu on November 03, 2013, 10:12 PM
I'm currently building a couple of mid school flatland bikes, and subsequently I've been doing some research on various forums. I have got to say there is loads of nice stuff about, so I thought I would post up a thread to see what you guys have as I'm looking for inspiration.  :daumenhoch:

Very true. Another quality make was bizhouse, they invented the dializer stem in 99, the concept has been copied by loads of other companies.  :daumenhoch:

I would agree with that as well, I almost bought one after I saw Phil Dolan riding one.  They looked great in sky blue. :smitten:

That premium lagger isn't going for much either, got to say it's not my cup of tea, I'm not a fan of the huge down tube gusset, but it is in great condition and made by khe before they fooked up by making baked bean can head tubes.

Someone was selling a green one on here a little while back, got to say the colour looked cool.  8)

Yeah they look good in green with the Heineken decals. Didn't the first batch with the curved seat stays get recalled as they snapped?

*edit - should add I'm on about the Lagger - didn't read the rest of the thread  :LolLolLolLol:

I think I remember summit about em going at the seatstay/seatpost area - I do know is they recalled the one's with the bent seatstays and replaced em with the straighter one's due to the design fault.

Those big daddies  are  sweet.  :smitten:  :smitten: I love the gordys black one.

That dragonfly is a cool frame set.
This is turning into a great thread, I'm surprised how much interest it has got.  :daumenhoch:

Should we have threads for dirtbikes/jump bikes, ramp bikes, street/anarchic bikes and of course race bikes.  :daumenhoch:

I really love the midschool era , with sometimes the bizar ideas and even bizar results of years BMX evolving
The overdesigned frames and parts in the search for strength and durabilty.

sometimes way to far :)

If you want to see an interesting thread on building new school flatland bikes and parts with an old school/mid school twist then have a look at this thread from PIR, the stuff he has produced/invented is quality. A very interesting read.  :daumenhoch:

Oooh... that Double Dynamite up there <3
Haven't seen too many of those during years. Or much any of the 1996-1997 era Dragonflys. Where did they all go?
Here's my contribution regarding Dragonflys. Obviously not completed, but let's say in the process.

My smoke-chrome Double Dynamite:

Erm...another Big daddy??? My ramp room BD(owned from new) that I recently got down from my parents loft after a good few years.  Don't worry those purple tyres will be getting swapped over for either my haro multi surface 2's or my peregrine hp's.

Hey 2Fresh, is that you Timo?  8) Hope you're well bud!

Here's my Double Dynamite, in its current set-up. Bit of a mix of parts, but it rides well:

I'm slowly freshening up my big daddy. I got some tyres today but I think I've messed up a bit as I bought 2.25 tyres and they look a little balloon like. I can't believe the difference from 2.125!!!:-[  I leave them on fro a bit as they might grow on me.....might...

Looking awesome mate. It might be worth your while test fitting the rear brakes and seeing if they don't fowl the tyres. I've had a few mates try and run big tyres and they either haven't fitted or only had a few millimetres of clearance.

Rear brakes fit but there's not much room for manoeuvre.  I think the tyres will be coming off anyway, they just don't look right. Maybe ill have to buy a new school bike to attach those tyres  to ::)

If all else fails, file off a mm on the 'lug bulge' on the rear brakes. Had to do it on me NS FBM CS with the rear slammed.
