Title: DIBBING ON THE FOR SALE BOARD
Post by: HARORIDER on November 10, 2013, 03:41 PM
Something I have found increasingly frustrating lately is when people put "pm'd message" about said item ????? does this mean they have dibbed it???? see something other day with this on and thought"oh well another item missed" only for someone else to say 2nd dibbs on said item and seller replies"all yours mate" ??? so obviously first buyer had not actually bought or dibbed it  :knuppel2:
I think the rules should be made clear you either dibb and buy it or not and remove comment that you have dibbed it-all these messages and dibbing for other people getting too messy and pishes loads of people off  :knuppel2:

I dont like the term "dib dobs or dobs" because you can dib it and wait a day before sending a PM to the seller ... And delay it  :coolsmiley:

imo pm's are more value as dibbing in the ad.  ;)

Just my thoughts  :daumenhoch:

if you dib it then pm seller and for whatever reason then don't want it fair enough but for someone just to say "pm'd you a message"  :wtf: does that mean  :-\  if the buyer or "pm'er" doesn't want it at least remove their comment to give someone else a fair chance  :daumenhoch:

I think rather rather PM, the person should ask the question in the thread  :daumenhoch:

Temporary dib dobs for somebody i don't mind, but temp dib dobs for yourself until you've decided if you want it or not really pisses me off.  >:(

"Dib Dobs" has always seemed a little juvenile to me. I'll just post " can I have the ****** please" in the thread. And don't get me started on "Dibbing" for someone else.
Nowt wrong with sending PM's with questions about items, but I think you should only post in the thread if you're actually buying. Saves any confusion.

if something is for sale... BUT you have a question does it not make sense to simply say .." i'll have it pending answer to a question".. .. that way if after the question is answered and you realise its not what you need you can then post up. STILL FOR SALE . simple  :daumenhoch:

If someone saw an item you really wanted & claimed it for you in the thread I would think you would be rather pleased...or is that different...?!

Not exactly sure what you mean, but no its not different for me. Perhaps let me know that said item is available, so that I can go and buy it myself (if I still require it). If its gone by the time I get there, then I might be disappointed, but that's how it goes sometimes. Its only bike bits after all.

I go down the route of having a haggle on PM,  Then dib dobs if the seller agrees.  That way then the seller has the opportunity to get there full price if someone will pay it.
My max price is not the same as some one else I want the seller to get to Mullah they want if someone gets it while I PM then so be it good for the buyer and seller.

dib dobs is a commitment to buy at the agreed price not to go and have a haggle after  :police:

I think you should ask any questions BEFORE calling dib dobs on an item. That way you and the seller should have sorted out any questions before the item is officially sold. If someone calls dib dobs on an item, it should be final in my opinion - they are agreeing to buy the item based on the photos and/or sellers description. Just my opinion.

Isn't it then the sellers responsibility to describe accurately and post clear photos?
We know some people are just fookin lazy and post shit photos, they then get bombarded with questions when a few minutes waiting for photobucket to play will negate the need for 'dib dobs pending question' situations.

Just a thought.

NB: No malice was intended with this comment and all people mentioned were fictional.

Don't want to start another shitty slanging thread "nono"

ask all questions in pm if your unsure then dib in thread.

if someone else has called dib's before you decide, tough luck

i've lost out on things where there was no "dib" just a "pm sent" only to get a reply someone has already dibbed it sorry. how the f@ck does that work.

first in the thread to dib, if they go awol it goes to the next and so on.

can't really understand why grown men can't get to grips with that

Same should be said about folks making the enquiries behind the PM's.

If you don't want the item, have the courtesy to let the seller know

Rather than trying to agree on universal sale terms just write your own rules at the top of the for sale thread.  You only have to write it out once and then paste it into subsequent for sale posts…  :)

Not a dig at you Terry as you told me about your shifts........

More so at, the enquiries that give you the impression that its sold P/P, but you hear nowt back....

It would appear that there is an issue with PM's at the mo, need to look into that.

what's the fuss.

I) PMs: Someone says 'pm'ed' .... you dib anyway. then you hear the pm'er gets it ... tuff luck.

II) If someone dib dobs for another ... so what? You can still 2nd it. So if after a day or coupla hrs nothin happens you can still get it, because:

III) Common courtesy to say STILL UP if your question wasn't answered as you wished.

IV) Of course seller can always sell to whomever he likes ....but the DIB 'rule' serves also the seller as he doesn't always have a preferred buyer.
