Ok, I'm almost there but some parts may have to be from them foreign types.
Come on then....can you guess what it is yet?
Which frame and what parts?

Nope....I'm talking freestyle, 90s, British
:yahoo_silent:

You mean British made freestyle as in made in Britain right? All this brands are made in Taiwan and not mid school, no it can't be done! I told you that before you twat
-
Zima? :daumenhoch:
A British brand but not fabricated in the uk.
-
King Bike Co. caught the tail end of the mid school Era, as did G-Sport. Both made frames and forks. Where you will run into trouble are things like rims, tyres, grips, levers, etc. But you could get very close to an all british mid bike. :daumenhoch:

built in Hampshire were they not.....
-
Pashley is the only one you could do, the Forte brothers rode for em late nineties early 00's, Kye had a signature frame with a U brake mounted on the top of the seatstays

Thanks Ballba...er Olly, just because you're missing a pretty vital part (frameset :loser:) and can't try it yerself don't come blabbing ya jibber hither :bellend:
Zimas were fabricated in Eng-er-land by Steve Geall and his dad
It is indeed a ZIMA :4_17_5:
I think King products were made in the USA...that's what it says on a chainring I've got anyway
-
I didnt know Zima were made here, get some pics up then :daumenhoch:

We're still miles off a complete bike.....any guesses?

Zima sweet....
interview with them in june/july issue of ride magazine from 1994....

-
Hooooooo :4_17_5:
Xposure grind disc is correct...wrong bars though!
By the way the ZIMA is even built using Reynolds tubing
-
Sturmley archer hubs? ;D
-

Yeh, and Brooks saddle ;D

:4_17_5: Gsport Wunderbars and Gsport fat shaft hubs is what I'm going with!
So early King stuff was made here was it?
Gsport stem is no use...only came as clamp-on as far as I know and I'm using ZIMA forks here....quill stem???

Ace idea :daumenhoch:
No-one's mentioned Curtis - they did three midschool F&F's. And then there's the UK companies that got to proto stages, made parts and the frames never came out like Ketch (at least I never saw one) :)
Cranks - Payload Wishbones were made in the UK
Rims - don't think any were ever manufactured here......
-
Good one! yes I think Curtis made a frame in about 96?
A set of those Wishbone cranks would be very nice....never seen a set!

I saw some on eBay a year or so ago - from memory they went fairly cheap :daumenhoch: But you're right, they don't turn up often :)
Yeah - Curtis did three sets in around 96-97: The DSR, DSR mini and Powell:

OK, I've had this sitting waiting for a new paint job because, well it's yellow and was very scratched but I decided to clean it up and after a whole day of wire wooling and T-cut, the thick powder has come up nicely :)
It still has bits of paint missing but I like survivors.
Chopped some new decals up and here it is... :smitten:(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ac244/skidmark_photo/photo3_zps736cc7f2.jpg) (http://s904.photobucket.com/user/skidmark_photo/media/photo3_zps736cc7f2.jpg.html)

that's epic :daumenhoch:

Was that the one that was on another bike forum for sale a year or so ago Skidders?
Lovely :daumenhoch:

Nice Zima I can remember riding with Steve when he was building these frames with his Dad at Sway in the New Forest. Steve's Dad used to make the Rickman frames, he was in the same league as Brian Curtis and Mick Whitlock.
The best bars for this build would be a set of Milky Bars that were also manufacturerd at the same time just up the road in Winchester by Geoff Cain, Geoff made a few sets of Milky Bar necklaces for his riding buddies, I have still got mine ;D
I had stopped riding before the Curtis magazine feature does anyone know why the race frame was named Powell? Brian Curtis's apprentice and my old team mate was called Michael Powell and he was tragically killed in a RTA, was this frame named after him?
-
yep early king stuff was made in the uk
i forgot the following
custom riders rgd/static shafted stem, choice of long, short or inverted
brakes, rob ridge 8mm axle, sealed bearing converted acs boa's (closest to british brakes you will get) if u didn't have brake mounts
brake levers you could use x-lite brake levers from 94
-
Nice little insight there colinc 8)
Yep Dan it was off another forum matey.
Kev :4_17_5:
The stem I have is a Static inverted...don't think there's any other quilled options out there!!!
Also Static cable dividers.
-
Rims - don't think any were ever manufactured here......
Maybe a bit of a cheat/early for Mid really despite ongoing debate/flexy, but what about UK-made Skyways? late 80s?

;D not a bad suggestion! if it were earlier 90s it could be an option.
Got the headset in...not 100% :Great_Britain: but I fitted a Rekka lower cup and Gsport Ringpiece....

Any ideas on canti breaks fellas? :-\
cranks are looking tricky too...I've got Fishbone but they're overseas made I reckon...as mentioned a set of Payload Wishbone arms would be a treat if anybody knows of a set!
I may go down the route of 24seven arms if nothing else comes up :-[
-
Maybe ask Dan if he's got a set of Wishbones? Thing is, didn't Static stuff get made overseas? Fishbone's a Tai company :daumenhoch:
Maybe just try and stick to UK companies (but the bits are made abroad).
-
Static was UK made :Great_Britain: :yahoo_silent: :Great_Britain:(http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac244/skidmark_photo/staticstemreview_zps3036ac24.png) (http://s904.photobucket.com/user/skidmark_photo/media/staticstemreview_zps3036ac24.png.html)
-
:LolLolLolLol:
I couldn't remeber if they started off like that and then went abroad later. Fairly certain the forks they made after them stems were made in Tai. Dunno though Skidders :daumenhoch:
-
like this build, like the static stem too :daumenhoch:
-
Know fook all about freestyle but that's a funky looking frame set. :coolsmiley:

I wonder if there are many Decay frames left?? Stuart king rode for them for a while and you could order the frame with either Decay forks or king pins.
