Hi guys
Ive bought a leary which has had black chrome removed off frame and bought some nos forks which are smoked... question is how do I remove the black smoke finish off the forks??
Was going to get the frame re black chromed but decided cheaper to strip forks....
So anyone done it, oven pride? Nitromors? Lightly sand ( did this on my pro class with good results) or anything else

Hi
Have to agree. A leary needs to have the black chrome. I'm currently trying to find someone who can replicate the colour. My first choice would have been Dan. But I called him probably days before you did and he doesn't do this colour.
If this helps I'm currently considering going to C4 Labs who claims to have cracked the colour. Certainly from the pics I've seen it looks spot on. The only downside is the fact they are based in the states and you do worry about post etc... And it starts getting expensive.
I do recall a thread on here that seemed to suggest a company in the midlands had cracked the colour. From memory the company had sparkle in their name. But that's as far as I got.
The pro class I think has smoked chrome. But the leary had various tints and lacquers so a different process. C4 Labs add this colour over chrome so damn close to the original.
Anyway hope that helps. Keep me posted as I have a keen interest with my build.

Your right any leary blck or chrome will look the nuts. I've seen a few in white which look fantastic a colour DB didn't consider BITD but it works.
Good news on the painter. Do let me know who it is when you've heard back.

Jason

Some bikes just have to be... TA's are white or chrome and Leary's should be smoked chrome - anything else is wrong.
Did Magnum drive around in a green 308GTS...? "nono"
