Ok, major help needed.......
I'm an Old school guy so this is confusing me big style.
My sons Kuwahara started grinding in the bottom bracket so we removed the crank arms to have a look. The drive side threaded bearing was at an odd angle in the frame so i removed it, whilst turning and pulling it came straight off the frame. The Non drive side is perfect, it threads in and out no problem.
So, either the thread on the drive side bearing has gone or maybe the thread inside the frame is knackered. Basically the threaded bearing just pushes straight in to the frame rather than screws in like the other side.

The threaded bottom bracket in the frame drive side.

Now worse case scenario is if the thread inside the bb is knackered then i'll suppose the frame itself is knackered ????
This bike is his pride and joy. :( :(
Also what BB is it ???? I assume it's a Euro rather than a mid or spanish.
Help please :'(

Yeah i've thought of that Phil, wondered if anyone on here had ever stripped the threads inside of the frame and if so what did they do to fix it ????

andy
take it to a good quality bike shop and they should be able to re-thread the bb. I had to get it done once on a redline frame for a kid at our track.
I would recommend getting a new bb aswell.

Cheers Marc,
yeah i've just phone my mate Steve Geall and am taking it to him on Saturday, i used to race against him back in the 80's and he said to pop it over. For the time being i've just basically rebuilt it and done it tight, with the arms pushing up against the bearings i physically cant see how the threads can undo as the arms are keeping them in.
