Title: Rebuild or not
Post by: Keith dublin on December 05, 2013, 08:38 AM
Unsure what is best thing to do.
Hi lads
Looking for your feed back on this.
I have a 85 dp gl freestyler that I put away in the attac years ago.
The bike still rides and is a bit rough paint wise.
So here is the thing do I restore or leave it as is.
Your advice and input would be great
I will be putting new skyways on it but I'm u in the air on colour
It had green arcorn mags on it back when I built it but I always hated the coster on them
So what do I do ............
Cheers in advance
Keith

If it were mine, I'd leave as it is. Just give it a good clean and service.

Get some pic's up  :daumenhoch:

If you are going to keep it as a rider I would do this.
Strip, service,  build, cruise  :daumenhoch:

Think a nice set of White or Black Skyways would look good.

Cool survivor, rip it to bits, clean and grease everything, and enjoy it. :coolsmiley:

Get those bars pulled back though. ::)

Thanks for the feedback lads
Strip, clean and ride it is so.
Small bit of rust under the top tubes so ill rub it down and touch it up
I'm thinking white mags but black would be handy to keel clean
Deffo pull the bars back I'm 40 now and I don't think my back would put up with that.
Thanks again
Keith

One of the best survivors I've seen in a long time.   :coolsmiley:

Definitely keep as a survivor   :daumenhoch:

Keith give it a citric acid bath and save yourself the effort where the rust is concerned. Wont harm the frame, paint or decals  :daumenhoch:

This is sound advice!

takes the effort out of it!

Black tuffs, white are a pain to keep clean.

Sweet bike, looks ace

:4_17_5: straight out the 80's , good clean as said , don't think i've seen a gl in orange/red looks good  :daumenhoch: keep it as is

black tuffs would suit , however not cheap for an alloy hub set if you want to go that way, not sure a new sealed set would do it justice :-\

personally i'd stick with the araya's,  a lot better to ride on ,  and look real good when cleaned up  :daumenhoch:

keep us posted on progress :daumenhoch:
