Any advice on stripping surface rust from chrome, heard a few people use vinegar?also best product to make chrome nice and shiney, thanks
-
You can use vinegar, Oxalic Acid (wood bleach), Silver foil, jewellers rouge.
There are actually a lot of ways of removing surface rust.

I've used vinegar on a few bits with good results..leave small parts In a jar overnight. I had some
Very light pitting/surface rust on a chrome frame and i used some autosol metal polish and it lifted it off easily. For
More severe rust I think most people swear by an OA bath..

Excellent cheers for the advice, that's today's job sorted :-)

OA bath then polish with Peek. :daumenhoch:
-
Oa bath can b3 a pain, if it's not too rough then peek & a Stanley knifes blade will sort it :daumenhoch:

Its like Naval Jelly but a bit rougher.
It's Naval jelly but with added sand, to get extra friction ;)

Shiny frame and shiny bullet hole in a tin!!
-
oxalic or citric acid bath OR stanley blade and a rough cloth with peek in if just a few patches
PEEK to polish (not as abrasive as Autosol)
and then finish off with a goddard's silver cloth (rub in one direction only ;) )
