Hi Joff.
From my knowledge and collection (and it's not all that reliable most of the time :LolLolLolLol:) Jono's bike is a Pre size serial ID Robinson and to be honest you know my height I can cruise round on my 18 TT Robbo's no problem. (Jono's is the same TT length as the Expert size)
Early 1st generation Gussett frames say 80 and early 81 don't have any model ID markings E or P found on slightly later frames on the dropout, with the early 80 models the serial is under the BB as Jono's bike and no size ID founded so these are not referred to as Expert or Pro Robinsons.
Personally I have not seen a Pro (P) earlier than an 82 but you never know....
Late 81-83 Experts are the same as the 1980/81 model like Jono's and share an 18" TT length, the Pro Robinsons are 19"
To the best if my knowledge Chuck used different Fabrication shops to get to build his frames built up and you would be surprised in the differences in design & manufacture changes so there are some differences with frame strengthening braces and fork design evolution.
AW told me there used to be a workshop in Chucks back yard too when they first got involved in 1980 when he first went out there and obviously the demand grew to having around 6 distributors across the states, Canada, Holland and ... Pie land.. :smitten: this is when that had the distribution centre set up.
GT were involved in building these frames and earlier than you'd think... ::)
I could go on "bump"

I'm starting to warm to the flat gusset type of Robbo, really nice design. :daumenhoch:

17" ??? Is that centre of seat tube to the centre of the head stock tube Jono ?
I will have a look at my serial on my 80 today and let you know, I think it's something like 050 from memory.. :-\
Haven't a clue on the A prefix ..
Flat brake bridge was correct, is there another flat plate behind the BB ?

He's the Zed man our Lenny,
I checked my serial it is 050*** and TT length centre to centre is 18 1/2" on this frame, 18" on my E stamped frames and 19" on the Pro's.
Glad we learned what the A is buddy.
