The legend that we know who goes by the name SAWZAL has recommended A.C.F Howell in Walsall but wondered if anyone else had ant recommendations.

Just to add to your options, I recently had some 401s re-chromed by Hockley's and they did a Stirling job. Bert has them, he took a picture. Maybe he'll post one if he's online.

where ever you take them and who ever you choose just grill it into them exactly what you expect (don't just hand them over hoping they get them right), most established chromers should do a dam near perfect job as long as you tell to keep away from the welds and threads and not to go too mad near edges, its all in the polishing prep, and as long as they have long experience with polishing they should do as good a job as anybody.... :daumenhoch:

I agree with Nick, Doug Taylor does a superb job, wouldn't take my stuff anywhere else.

ACF Howell have done some nice stuff for me .. I've used them a lot .. but the last couple of times they have messed up .. lost some stuff and polished off text etc. Also some of my stuff flaked not long after having it done.

Cheers Guys. Thanks for the feedback. I know all to well the pitfalls of having parts rechromed and dont want these forks for become another statistic on the 'job that went wrong list'.
its been a while since I've had anything done and dont trust the local guy in Castleford with these forks
Thanks again
JJ

I had a frame and forks done at Alans in york and it was £300
-
i'd agree with carl leigh metal polishers has done all mine n they stunning ask for john
-
if those cranks were done by hockley`s then they not done a great job as lost the weld lines ie overchrome on the ends from what i can see
-
What forks are they JJ?
-
Those Flights done by Hockleys look like the welds around the pedal bosses have been smoothed out with over polishing to me :-\

Don't panic :LolLolLolLol:
Its a crap picture taken with an ipad taken in a rush as I was leaving the house just to show Chris that they hadn't polished out the writing on the arms. I've just been in the man cave (I was getting paranoid.........) and can confirm that the welds are more or less as they left the factory - some flattening, but little different to a set of OG bars I have knocking about. Must be the light ;D

They were recommended to me a while back, and they're excellent. What I really like about them is that they're accurate with their turnaround time - no need to keep phoning them to chase things up.

They'll be getting one of my frame sets soon too, if they're good enough for Mr Fussy Steve then they'll do me fine.
Do they strip any paint or will I have take care of that ?, there's very little left on the frame but I don't have the time to sort. .
