HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLKS!
Now the world is getting back to normal, having checked the provisional dates for the Cleethorpes Carnival (19th July) & Cleethorpes Airshow (26th & 27th July) I have decided to plump for JULY 12th for the 2014 CLEETHORPES OLD SCHOOL RIDE OUT.
Get passing the word. 2013 saw 90 bikes lets smash that one out of the ground!
This shouldn't clash with the worlds either.
More later :daumenhoch:

there's no dedicated parking but plenty of street parking as well as pay and display. You're right by the Railway Station and seafront there.
-
If anyone is struggling to store bikes securely, i'm more than willing to offer the services of an alarmed and cctv monitored Garage. Its not remote, it's on my drive. I'm about 5 mins drive from the guest house area, so parking available if you want to do park and ride. Large car park just round the corner, as well as plenty of off street parking.
https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=53.545471,-0.041844&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=17
Should also mention that if your in Cleethorpes, i'm on the way to Waltham BMX Track.

Last time I was in Cleethorpes I noticed a shop with a 24" quad with skyways in the window, anyone owns it on here?

That's the one, only noticed it driving past and couldn't be bothered to walk to have a look after parking right down the far end.

***RIDE DETAILS***
Meet at Pleasure Island from 1300.
Cruise starts at 1400.
Photographic opportunities en-route.
Visit the lifeboat station to allow people to show their appreciation of the work they do in saving lives in some of the most horrific weather conditions.
-
Is one of the group phot opportunities going to be on the sea wall? The picture has a guy on top so people understand the scale......been down that way recently. Bloody slippery near the bottom steps!!
-
Been down myself today, bottom 3 steps slippery. Think I've found somewhere :daumenhoch:
Was gorgeous down there today.
12 mile shake down for the new cruiser :coolsmiley:

Hi folks , I have just booked a room ready for cleethorpes ride out . Having not been to one before I have booked into premier inn grimby and was wondering if any of you guys know a cycle route from hotel in grimby to where we all meet .hope it a nice ride as only booked hotel so I can put bike in room ... Cheers ,Greg
-
Hi Mate & :welcome
I work near that premier inn, and its not an easy ride to get in to Grimsby and Cleethorpes its a v busy dual carriageway.
I will take a look and get back to you with a route. But if you look on Google Maps / Earth You will realise you are a fair ride out. If you would prefer to Park in Cleethorpes, i can offer parking either in My street or a Local Car park. No worries the area is o.k. If you need garage space the night before and you want to pick bikes up the morning of the ride thats also an option. Alarmed and cctv monitored Garage. The choice is yours, but you'll find us all a friendly bunch. Not sure if it's just you and mates or family.
Its your choice of course...just let us know when your ready.
I'll be back in touch or feel free to P.M.
The ride is organised by :- That Swan Guy :nickswan:
I've been wanting to use that emoticon :daumenhoch:

As Chapperz said you're about 4-5 miles away on a very busy industrial area. Relocating to Cleethorpes might help. I know the guys who used The Dovedale last year had no problems with bikes, Carl and Rich have booked in town too.
-
As Nick (Swan Guy) says. But if youve managed to get £29 room deal can fully understand that.
You have garaging available, and if not too drunk can drive back /taxi if you wanted to leave bikes until Sunday a.m to pick up.
2015 will be excellent...Cleethorpes will have its own Premier Inn Right near Pleasure Island. :daumenhoch:
-
Thanks nick and chapperz, thanks to your advise I have cancelled premier inn and booked in at the dovedale ,they have said the bikes should be fine ! If there is a prob at the time I may have to take you up on your kind offer of bike storage for the night . I was at first just going to drive up from derby do the ride then home but the mention of a few beers sounds like a great plan .thanks again guys , looking forward to seeing some cool bikes .

Nice one, Dovedale is spot on and in the centre of the seafront. The guys had no issues there at all last year, apart from having to go inside from the garden to the bar as to not wake the neighbours. It was midnight mind :LolLolLolLol:
-
Me and my lad will be on this. :daumenhoch:
As day trippers only I'm afraid while the Mrs nips down to Louth to see her pal for the day.
She's driving so I'll be drinking. ;)

For those who are travelling from afar, please note the following traffic advice:
From the North and West. Pick up the M180 and follow it through to it's conclusion where it changes into the A180. Follow signs for 'GRIMSBY'.
As you travel down the A180 enjoy the road noise the experimental surface creates whilst gazing at the Humber Bank oil refineries at Killingholme (on your left).
As you approach Grimsby pick up the signs for 'CLEETHORPES'. You will be directed to keep going dead ahead through all the roundabouts and junctions.
Do so but take time to soak in the atmosphere of a broken town centre that out of town shopping centres have created.
As you approach Cleethorpes you will start to see the brown tourist signs for 'PLEASURE ISLAND'. Follow these.
Keep going dead ahead and as you pass Blundell Park, the home Grimsby Town FC (yes I know it's technically in Cleethorpes!), please pay homage.
Eventually you will arrive at the end of this main road and encounter a large roundabout. Take the second exit up the hill.
This will lead you towards the seafront! Follow this road along the seafront and crane your neck to the left as you attempt to catch a glimpse of the sea.
Rich/Carl your B&B is just off this road to the right :daumenhoch:
Continue following the signs to 'PLEASURE ISLAND' and you will eventually see the Boomerang ride stretching u in to the sky.
Pleasure Island is right at the very end of this road.
From the South: The A46 is probably the easiest route in unless you live in Low-eth then read as the A16!
Follow signs to 'GRIMSBY' and splendour at the beauty of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Yes it is actually hilly in Lincolnshire!
Pick up the signs for 'CLEETHORPES' staying on the road you came in on.
You will eventually get brown tourist signs for 'PLEASURE ISLAND', follow them.
Again, Pleasure Island is at the end of town.
From the East: If you've come from the East who the hell are you?
The last people who came from the East were the Vikings!
Any dramas give me either a message on here, I have it tagged or call/text me: 07810714745
See y'all soon :daumenhoch:
