Title: My Story
Post by: Jim on January 03, 2014, 08:31 PM
Well been on here a few months now after being recommended by spadey99 and skippyg so thought I'd take a few moments to tell u my story.

Loved bmx as a nipper and was fortunate enough to get bought an 85 ammaco freestyle pro as a birthday/xmas present ,it was the nicest bike in our local bike shop but I was always envious of the lad down the road on his pk ripper.
Loved my ride but eventually sold it to fund a motorbike when I turned 16 in 1988 and that was the end of bmx or so I thought........

About 7 months ago I changed job and with my commute slashed to just over a mile I decided to buy a bike, didn't have much room so I thought a bmx was nice and small. Bought a 2003 redline slant in need of some tlc for 30 quid and restored it. quite liked it but she was a heavy beast but it got me thinking about that lad down the road on his ripper.

So I bought a 90 ripper of spadey and have since bought an 86 ammaco freestyle pro an 87 haro sport and a 92 robinson sst. The collection is growing so I've now had to buy a new flat with a nice big loft and shed  :LolLolLolLol:

Anyway that's enough from me, enjoying the site lots of good people here and happy building in 2014

Thanks , its good t be connected   Im 45 now, was in bmx from 82-86 both racing and freestyle, got many scars to show for it, but looking back they were the most honest, purest days.  Your bmx will sometimes forgive you for slight miscalculations, but it wont allow shortcuts and it wont be conned, and whern you put the sometimes very painful graft in , it will reward you, and the spirit of bmx never dies within us.  I gave up at 18 after being hospitalised in a regional 1985.  A lot of my pals are still going and we have reunions still, and they are true bmx brothers.
