Title: 1994 Chainring recommendation
Post by: Gnarlyscoots on January 07, 2014, 10:40 PM
I have a Rocket chainring fitted to the cranks I am using on my Kastan but want to know what would be the best and era correct ring for 1994 please guys.

Were Rocket around at the time? If so, I will stick to using that  :daumenhoch:

There are a few nice options out there. Odyssey Z915 are going cheap on Ebay, there are still a few TNT retro blades floating about online, plenty profiles to be had as well. GT made some lovely sprockets around that times, as did Haro/fusion as well.

Thanks Jon. I am looking at a chainring though, as opposed to a chainwheel as the cranks I am using have a spider  :daumenhoch:

If you need any Kasten Advert scans let me know Terry  :daumenhoch:

Ads from the time say Proneck & Sugino were still around ... chainwheels were more popular though.

How about a CPR Rocket ring....  whatever that is!

Thanks for the offer Ed  :daumenhoch:

I'm not keeping the Kastan to any sort of spec, just era correct mate with some nice parts from that year.

The CPR Rocket is a chainwheel  :(  Very nice but, as I am using a spider, I need a chainring.

I was looking in a '94 mag with Pistol Pete doing a test and he was running the cranks I have using a Sugino ring, I think it is, so I may just opt for one of those or grab a Pro Neck as they were still around then too, like you say mate  :daumenhoch:

I just thought there may have been some different, nice, rings about apart from chainwheels  :-\
