Post by: Skratchski on January 19, 2014, 05:14 PM
Can these things still be ridden? id have thought theyd just disintegrate, i intend to put em back on cos theyre O.G. but if i decide to ride it sometimes are they gonna fall apart?

They look good enough to me to ride. Az long as the walls are not hard, crispy an brittle, they will be fine.

Rub some vaseline into the side walls to help keep them moist too  :daumenhoch:

I wouldn't ride them either when you can pick up a set of repop comp 3 yellow labels for about £40 and they are bound to be worth a lot more than a set of repops.

They look in pretty good condition so they would probably be OK but there's always a chance of a blow out and as rubber degrades over time the chance is greater.

You are lucky to have a set keep them for show.   :daumenhoch:

Good info there fellas but youll have to excuse my ignorance, yellow label, rainbow label? ive seen people mention other colours too, what gives? I`ve been out of the bmx scene apart from catching it on tv now and then since `85, i do remember the label changing on comp 3`s once while i was riding but im out of the loop on product runs/changes etc since back then.

There is a Tioga Tyre Timeline post knocking about somewhere that explains it all. I can't access it for some reason though  ???

Nice set of tyres. :daumenhoch:

I would worry about using them on a rider, excellent for show.

Lovely tyres there. Not easy to find in with those colour labels now...
