Title: Good Anodising Service Search.
Post by: Retrodan72 on January 24, 2014, 06:15 PM
Hiya lads,

I am currently, during my spare time at work trawling through Google at different anodising services. I have emailed a few today explaining the hobby, this forum, the members and the fact that we need a good anodising service that combines quality, value and a decent turnaround time.

I have shown them some examples of seat clamps, calipers and chain rings, to show what sort of standard we're looking for.

I have also said that I realise that me, as one customer giving them the odd part here and there will not provide a great revenue for them, but have assured them that ticking all the boxes I've stated could potentially mean a nice little earner for them with combined orders from RADsters.

Lets see what correspondence I get back.

I'll keep you posted guys.   :)

From disillusioned bmx builder to moderator to Radbmx detective in chief in the space of 3/4 months.
Your like the bmx butterfly who's just emerged from his chrysalis to take on a brave new world and leave no stone unturned in your pursuit of bmx bliss. Lovely.
Keep up the good work Dan.  :daumenhoch: :LolLolLolLol:

They used to be that best, and a lot of guys including myself had used them. Their communication started to fade, then one if the guys, Mark I think, became ill do they sacked the BMX stuff off.  :(

I use an annodiser here in Walsall called Majestic. But I can't get out of work like I did 2 get there . Also they don't do polishing , so u have 2 do all ur own prep work. Also if they r not stripped of original finish correctly he will restrip and do away with all ur hardwork. He has done this 2 me before and finish is duller  :(

I use Majestic too. They know me in there so seem to do a pretty good (and cheap) service with a good turn-around time. I've used them quite a number of times now.

just seen paul at cca,  it is a shame that he longer does it as he knew the score about the polishing up first, and what shade we wanted,  but he's absolutely mowed out with much straight forward work so I don't blame him tbh....    :-\

Ash, a lot if companies weren't interested tbh, some didnt even reply.  ::)

I did get a company called Kara's in Leigh email me back, and their managing director told me he'd done some parts for a guy who had restored 2 Skyway TA's. he invited me up, but as it's in Leigh, I told him that we'd send Carl.  :daumenhoch:

Finally got my rim back from a local company...

What you think ?

I think it's very dull...
And shows all the imperfections...

Nothing like the original finish... :(

Sorry, but doesn't look good. If done properly, they should look like this:

Unfortunately these were done by CCA. Those halcyon days....  ::)

Yes, This is what i'm after... :daumenhoch:

Got 1 rim done as a trial...
Guy done it as a 'homer'...
When i collected, the bosses wife came out and came him a right ear full (she sounded very frigid to me)...
Ranting "private jobs take you away from contract jobs"...

Back to the drawing board...
Need someone who polishes and annodises...

Come on Dan...Your Radsters need you... :daumenhoch:

Went 2 my annodisers 2day . First chance I have had in months  :tickedoff:

don't think i will bother with caustic/oven pride again and all the residue .

Had about 20 items, cranks etc stripped in ten mins and walked out with lovely shinny bare ally ready 2 polish and return 4 colour. Gotta b the best way  8) only cost me £20 and saved me hours and hours of work .
