Title: Gibson flying V inspired stem, opinions needed please
Post by: oldschoolace on February 10, 2014, 02:14 PM
Besides bikes i also like the odd fiddle on a guitar. I mate of mine has a Gibson flying V and it struck me the headstock might make a cool stem, replacing the tuning pegs with bolt  :D

This is what they look like for those not in the know

And these are a few wooden mockups to see how it would look

1 old school solid body

Oooh - a Wyld Stallyns stem  :daumenhoch:

That there 1 1/18"er Clint might snap - if the two securing bolts are on seperate pieces of stem (ie top and bottom) and then with the two nearby top cap bolts = unflexy thin alu.

Might be talking oot me arse tho  ;D

See your point about the 1 1/8th being weak our kid but i think there may be just enough meat around the bolts, again i could be talking shite too  ;D

the cutout in no2 is more reminiscant of the truss rod cover on the v. no2 for me. They all look good though.
