Title: Raleigh burner 24"
Post by: Dark Diggler on February 15, 2014, 11:26 AM
What do you make of this, is it someones on here? its a curious thing and to be fair, an interesting project to undertake, personally, I am not keen but I kinda admire the essence of it.

A guy called Simon on RB.com built it, just because he could. I'm not a fan myself, but I'm not much of a cruiser full stop, but agree with you Si, I appreciate the effort and vision the guys shown.

This hobby needs people like this to show a bit of change and innovation, it would be boring if everything was the same. :daumenhoch:

Kudos for building it but those forks and seat post wouldn't last...

I like the idea and vision, but the end result could have been so much better. The seat and head angles are just far too shallow.

I like Cruisers, I like Burners.  I don't like that.

Still, fair play to the guy for doing it. Its an interesting project.

Out of interest, does anyone know what cruisers the Raleigh team raced on BITD? Presumably some other company's bike painted in Raleigh colours?

I don't think they did James, tbh.  :daumenhoch:

That rings a bell, the only Raleigh cruiser I know of is Glynn's, I'm sure he'll see this thread and amaze us with his knowledge. :daumenhoch:

Looks like crazy paving had a hand in that, judging by the seat position.

A curio.

Nowt more.

I like this,  if you remove the bike, it's great engineering, and just shows what you can do of you put your mind to it. Respect to the guy

He told me he thought the gusset had maybe been added after market as it resembled an A more than an R.
He did a flipping great job of that though.
Also after chatting to a few hardcore raleigh guys in the states it seems no one heard of a rampar cruiser. The US Raleigh team broke up not long after bottema & Henderson left. Then reformed with raleigh racing in 83.
Team raleigh in the US did race cruiser class prior to the R7000 24"s 84 release though for that 83 season, I would like to know what frame was ridden for that season.

Yeah, its just decal'd up as a Rampar.
The rear triangle has a likeness to a Panda pro am , as in the dropouts and the gusset plate behind the BB.
I was trying to get in touch with Carlos lucia (of panda) to see if he could shed any light but ive gave up the ghost now:-\
Time for it go..
