:LolLolLolLol:  Stop what your doing before you damage it and go and buy one of these ......

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BIKE-HAND-Crank-Extractor-Tool-Removes-Cranks-From-Square-Taper-BBs-BRAND-NEW-/360615358613?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Cycling_BikeLocks_SR&hash=item53f659b095

Just type in ' square taper tool ' in ebay and pick the one you want ..... i have the 'ice toolz one' , believe me it will be one of the best things you will buy  ;)  Chain reaction cycles will have them aswell  ;)

The £5.99 X tools one at Chain Reaction will do the job Graham  :daumenhoch:   Just make sure you screw it into the crank arm threads as far as it will go ....... otherwise you risk pulling/damaging the threads on the pedal arm .

Unscrew the centre bolt of the extractor all the way out .
Screw the extractor into the pedal arm as far as it will go.
Screw the centre bolt back in and that will push against the bb spindle and hey presto it will pop off !!  :D

Happy extracting !!!   :D

One of the most useful tools in your tool box is a crank arm extractor.

No more hammer marks on the back of the crank arms  :daumenhoch:

when it pings off, you will laugh, and in years to come look back fondly, and help someone else who has the same problem. its a mistake you dont make twice.

Very true, I can remember the joy of first using a crank puller vs a hammer...
