Title: GT pro with a twist of lemon.
Post by: meticulous on March 08, 2014, 05:25 PM
Thought id do some photographing due to our predicted heatwave ;D,
Its been a slow (carnt be arsed) ongoing project since last year, and was waiting on sunny weather again :crazy2:
I wanted to do something a little different from the norm',  it almost looks junior size but its most definitely a pro.  it could do with a 900 rear caliper (or a 700  or 800 reach if there ever was one) due to the size of 20 X 1 3/8ths rims and tyres,  but anyhow without the run down of parts feast your eyes on this....     :)

Fookin yes! Love it Sammy.

I've got a similar problem running 1 3/8s and calliper length, but the wheels look sharp against all my others.

Very nice is that Sam  :coolsmiley:

I like the choice of colours and not too much of each. Not a fan of 700 sized rims on a BMX though but, I will just imagine they are 1.5's or 1.75's   ;D

Try getting a Dia Compe 500 caliper Sam  :daumenhoch:

Very nice Sam. The white/gold/yellow/blue combo looks really good. I especially like the close up shot of the headset/stem area

I think the two colour gold / blue anodizing looks fantastic with the white - great choice and build

Cracking build, colour way works really   :coolsmiley:

I don't think an 890 will work   :-\

Couple of options, easiest being porkchop for a repop

http://www.porkchopbmx.com/Dia-Compe-730-Rear-Brake-Caliper-FOR-MINI-BMX-GOLD-DC730-GOLD.htm

If you can get anno done and want to do something really different a Dia Compe or 750 Centre pull would be the ticket.

Sam, you want a DC or Wienman 730 on the rear, i've just put one on my JMC running 1 3/8s and it reaches perfectly - geometry/reach should be pretty similar to the GT  :daumenhoch:

Is the rear wheel rammed between your arse cheeks or do you just save that treat for visitors to the loft?  :-*

That looks refreshingly cool with the white frame set, Colour is King  :smitten:

Nothing wrong with a Pro size bike running 20x1-3/8" wheelset, makes it look faster.
(bitd i ran 1-3/8" on my Changa Long for a while, and there was a noticeable difference in speed)

Um good question I reckon they are new as they just haven't stopped making them, maybe changed where they are made though, if you are after old ones you could restore a set of old weinmanns or maybe even pick a NOS set up, they'd have most likely used weinmanns BITD.
