Title: What shoes for flat pedals?
Post by: Jon The Bassist on March 16, 2014, 07:01 PM
So I'm a big lump, I need a BMX/skate shoe with some midsole impact protection and not too flexy.
I've been looking at shoes like Etnies Marana which are cheap online. Does anyone know if they are a big or small fit? I wear anything from 10 to 11 depending on fit.

I used to ride in etnie faders, I tried to wear vans like bitd but it killed my feet, they had a nice high bridge support

I looked at those in the CR shop and they are seriously sturdy shoes   :daumenhoch:

They can look a bit 'special' but my god they grip like nothing else i've ever ridden in.

I cant ride a bike in anything other than vans, maybe it's the old school in me but the thicker soles meant i didn't really feel the pedal in the same way  :)

Cheers for all the thoughts and recommendations :daumenhoch:

I too love Vans (currently got about 3 pairs, although one are very small for a 10  :2gunsfiring_v1: )  but I had a few 'dabs' when I started riding again and the protection just isn't there. So for serious riding (ie racing/skateparks) I need something a bit more beefy.

I ordered the Etnies in the end as they were half the price of the FiveTens - I'll let you know if they are significantly better/worse than expected and how grippy they are.
