Title: MK14 10th Anniversary - Just an idea?
Post by: factory pilot on April 09, 2014, 10:51 PM
Hi lads, I don't want to tread on anybody's toes or put anybody's nose out of joint if wheels are already in motion but I was wondering.....

...seeing as it's the tenth anniversary of our beloved MK :smitten: ......

... . could we try either as individuals or as a collective to get as many of our heroes from the past to attend as possible?

It literally made my year last MK to get to meet and chat to Maurice Meyer 8)

I know we have some famous names in our fabulous family already( you know who you are  ;) ) but some of you will have connections to many others who were our childhood heroes..

I know getting the likes of Haro, Wilkerson and Fiola etc to attend maybe just a step to far but what about Andy Ruffell, Tim March, Andy Preston etc, etc

Can anybody help or is there a way we could all help to achieve this?
Just a suggestion lads but if this is possible in any way it would really add to the specialness of the tenth anniversary :)

cheers Ant

PS- I didn't want to put this in the official MK thread cos I didn't want to piss anyone off :daumenhoch:

Any ideas are welcome mate and no need to worry about pissing anyone off.........it's all good.

I think people have been trying to get something like this sorted, i know someone from the states said he'd come over but we'd need to pay his plane ticket and hotel costs.....so it was put 'on the pile'

I've been Facebook stalking some if the faces from the UK BMX scene in the 80s, some good feedback, some zero feedback. :daumenhoch:

Cheers for the replies lads :daumenhoch:
I thought you'd be on the case behind the scenes :smitten:
I always thought in the case of the US riders that they'd possibly need airfares/hotels/expenses and for those reasons would possibly be non-starters :(

In saying that I'd be willing to chip in a few quid if it meant Sir Bob of Haro could attend  8)

I'd throw in a few quid too. It would be great if we could get a few old school names down. We may even get then to have a trundle round the track

We have spoken about this in the admin bit and as Rob says it was put forward about a famous face from the USA, however I personally think that the money it would cost for that could be put to better use.

Also radbmx was started by the members and built by those members also, so MK14 should be about the members past, present and future that have made this site so successful.

Finally I personally would rather see OS british riders than overseas ones, as they are the ones we all know from BITD.

If it means free beer at the Dog and Duck then I wont be complaining :LolLolLolLol:
Like you say it's about the members first and foremost..... however, it would be great to see some of the old UK Riders too :daumenhoch:

If that would be Tim March, we did approach him and ask if he would like to attend and show his new frames etc and to be honest he was as usual a miserable, rude fooker.

He has said in the past and this time around that he has no interest in oldschool BMX and doesn't want anything to do with RADBMX® and MK14.

Which begs the questions:
1) why if he hates oldschool BMX so much do his 'new' frames pretty much copy them?

2) why are so many people from the OS community fawning over his new stuff when he thinks we are all such a joke?
