I want to put some GT pedals onto a 3 peice crank but they're 1/2 size and I need 9/16. Is it just a simple case of swapping the spindle or shall I just get some more pedals??
-
:) If they`re the same/similar it may be possible to swap the spindles. With Shimano DX you can often use Fusion/Haro/Wellgo spindles if they are DX copies. What pedals do you plan on using?
-
They're the GT Dx style pedals? You think those brands will fit?
-
:) Should be fine,Wellgo DX types make good donor pedals. Now prepare for tiny ball bearings everywhere;)

Haha the annoying things is I'd stripped, clean and greased the pedals in excited anticipation. I'll have to bloody do it again now!

You reckon these would do it?

Cracking advice. The spindles fit lovely.
I have another set of GT DX style pedals that I want to change the spindles on. Thing is the end caps are in really good condition so I don't want to butcher them whilst trying to take the caps off. What's the best way to do it without deforemnig the plastic??

Hey Ed i had to dismantle 3 sets earlier to get one set of pedals i needed for a 3 piece ;) be handy if all 3 piece spindles were the same size, wonder were you can buy ones at,was going to get my old boss to make me ones, but id be waiting ages on them and need them now lol :D

I just bought some of those £5 Wellmans that are in the link in the thread above. I was swapping them over into the same style GT pedals.

In the Tech stickies section there's a Perry spindle swap tut that you can apply to DX's n'all - written by an asshole though:

Basically so long as the bearing race near the threads are the same and the threads at the nut end start in the same place you can cut em down to fit :daumenhoch:

That would even be handy Danny if you could just cut the spindle,i was looking for a set of9/16 spindles for a pair of old hutch pedals as they came with1/2 but none off my 9/16 spindles fit them :daumenhoch:
