I've just scored a complete 100% original unrestored 84 haro sport :smitten:
It's in amazing condition. I normally don't buy complete bikes as I enjoy the hunt of
Finding the parts and building it up over time but this sport just caught my eye and I think in more excited
About getting it than any other bike I've built recently.
So got me thinking, what is your ideal bike? Fully restored, mint condition show restored or
Factory spec survivor?? :)
-
Anyone (with time and money) can own a restored bike - the rare one's are the un-resto'd survivors imho - so a survivor :daumenhoch:
-
Survivor. It takes years if use to get all those marks and scratches. They add character and it means you can use the thing without being precious about it! I like show builds too, but survivors make for a much more useable and enjoyable bike in my opinion.

I`m just digging out all the parts to put my old Dirt Bike back together , I`ve just been looking at my old Super Pro wheels . Rusty twist lace as it was back then or rip `em apart and have `em relaced ? I`m going to leave them alone 8)

Have both mr dibbly but this is my favourite :smitten:

Survivors of anything are very rare, if you want a pukka painted one there is always one coming up for sale
-
Survivors all day long for me, if there's no other option but to re paint it then fair enough.
-
Yeah I got to agree I'm leaning more to a survivor nowadays. I think in time they will increase
In value higher than any restored example. Finding them in OG condition is hard but I've just
Managed it with this sport :) I'm loving it and the best part is I can actually ride it without worrying to
Much about putting a scratch on it :)

Now that's pukka

Survivors for me all the way, the nostalgia and battle scars tell it's storey, on the other hand the re chromed queens take us back to that lucky day we bought them bitd.
My complete 81 Torker mx survivor from my home town, 1 owner from new.

This was my fave survivor.

The Haro looks amazing as is....leave well alone! need more pics of it! :daumenhoch:
-
Very nice find. :coolsmiley:
Original with survivour parts. Dont mind if not original spec as most people changed parts over the years. :)
I will say if a bike is too far gone, then restore it as it breathes life back into a bike. :daumenhoch:
-
I like both.

survivor

X2 but do like to see a restored carpet queen if it aint polished to death & original finishes lost. ;)

Nice score John btw. :4_17_5:

Love show bikes but survivors are my favourite, not trying too hard to be a cool bike, they just are.
Defo keep the Haro as survivor, it's awesome 8)
My survivor aero pro, just had a clean n regrease now can ride care free :)
(have swapped tyres for repops tho, not sure originals would cope with me!)

Unless it's a mint survivor, I prefer restored so it looks like the day it rolled out of the shop.
-
a battle scarred survivor for me but i do have both :daumenhoch:
-
survivor - at least you can have a roll around on it and not worry :daumenhoch:
