Post by: RATTY on August 18, 2006, 11:32 AM
Well as you May know Pete Middleton is selling his Factory Zeronine on Ebay at the moment, Fantastic bike.

Well I was lucky enough to live near pete when I started, and he was a wikkid rider... and cool bloke

I emailed him through the bay yesterday not really expecting him to reply, 20+ years is a long time to remember people.

Well I got a reply this morning....

Hi Tony,Hows it going? All good this end, just getting older and trying to be sensible!!!!!!!!!!Have seen Craig scoff and Tony Slater a few times at a track near me, but other than that no real contact with the old world. Hope your ok keep your eyes open for one of these re-unions that keep coming up I might get to oneof them one day. Anyway look after yourself mate. Pete.

It was great to hear from him, and I mailed him back about RADBMX, so hopefully if he gets time he may log in for a chat, and share some of his memories and pics.

Hi all

I have had a good look at that too, it looks a minter.

Glad that the reserve is high so that it will go to a good home.

Be a great shame if it goes abroad though  :'(

Hi all

Before you get it Guy, it has got to hit reserve. There may not be many people with the right monies at the moment so bidding could stay roughly as it is and not hit reserve, or it could stay low then just a few bidders have a mad snipe war at the end and the most money of course wins.

Will he not end early for the right monies?

It would be a real shame if it was lost from the UK.

I haven't asked him to end early, but the reserve must be pretty high. I would like to win it, but my remark was only tongue in cheek, it's a free country  ;) If it doesn't sell, I may see if he wants to have a deal.

Just sent him this via ebay -

Hi Pete, I'm currently the high bidder on your awesome bike, although not met reserve. Just wanted to let you know that we are discussing this bike (and you) over on RAD http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=17427.0 Maybe you could swing by and say hello, we'd love to see you on there bud. I would like to win your bike, and keep it in the UK, but I hate asking people to end early. ;) Hopefully catch you over on RAD. Cheers, Guy (gmac)

Well I didn't win it, cos it didn't meet reserve. I was gonna put in a higher bid, but was busy, and didn't have a snipe set. I have tried mailing Pete, but not had a reply yet. If anybody could get in touch with him on my behalf, I would be really grateful  :)

Well I pondered for a while and have decided to put all your minds at rest. The bike will be staying in the UK and will be based not too far from Poole and Bournemouth. It will be kept as it is and not restored in any way unless the rubber is totaly finished in which case it will receive direct replacements Comp's. Unfortunately I am out of the country myself and won't be able to take it to any shows or race meets until I return, no idea when that will be permanently. A short break, Summer 2007 will see me back in the UK and hopefully visiting some of the tracks around the country with my old race buddy from BITD, if anyone knows of the events for June through August that would help me plan. I look forward to meeting up with some new friends I have made on the various sites. So keep smiling :) because UK :Great_Britain: BMX was a crazy time and those memories and the bikes that belong with them should stay there. :daumenhoch: I hope no one has any hard feelings as I did not even know this thread existed until after the auction. If anyone wants to keep in touch to meet up it will be great. My Wife and I return some time Summer 2007,
Cheers
Clint :)

explosion The time has come to move Pete's bike on. Exactly as I bought it. I would prefer to sell complete to someone who would not split. The dilemma is will they be true to the build or split it for some choice parts and sell the rest? Or do I let ebay sort it out and leave it to the buyer? explosion
