Hi all!
Newbie to the forum and BMXing here...
Went to Rush Skatepark near Stroud last Friday night for a wobble around on my old skateboard. Had a quick go on a mates BMX and was instantly hooked and couldn't get enough. Consequently I'm going to get my first BMX (at the age of 39...) I'm massively into mountain biking and spend a small fortune on my MTBs, so to start out BMXing I'm looking to spend only around £250-£300. I'm hoping to get something half-decent to learn on that will last if I keep it up. I'll mainly be riding at Rush, with the odd trip to some local outdoor tracks and dirt jumps. Would you recommend any of these to get started on...? I'm 6'1 so guessing I'll need around 21" tt. Drawn to the Haro as its the cheapest, but being new to BMX I've no idea of the manufacturers reputations, who's good, who's bad sort of thing:

Massive thanks in advance, I realise you probably get this sort of thread all the time, but any advice would be much appreciated

If you are after a new school BMX try Stodgy as he owns Rad BMX Shop.

Thanks, appreciated. Bit of a fail on my part actually, searching for a UK based BMX forum, this one came up, I got all excited and joined, posted up my first thread, and then noticed afterwards that it was mainly for old skool stuff, d'oh!

There are threads on her for New School as well.
I would say most members one here are in their late 30s or 40s.
Check the events area for older rider sessions at skateparks.

Don't worry about the old school focus, all the riders use new school and are your age. :coolsmiley:
Stodgy's shop is a great place to start looking for a new park rider - the old stuff is for polishing and at the best one of the pub crawls we do, if you want to ride ramps you need a new school :daumenhoch:

:welcome to Rad wilko. :daumenhoch:
Old school, Mid school, New school.... pub ride-outs, skatepark lock-ins and local race track sessions (not Rad organised).
It's all here mate, have a mooch, I'm sure you'll find something to tickle your fancy. ;)

Cheers y'all, thought I was nuts getting my first BMX at age 39, sounds like I'm not alone :) Great site by the way, look forward to contributing a bit more when I'm an active part of the BMX 'scene'. God I sound old.
