Is it a good idea to take a file the axle to slim them down ?
Or take it too a machine shop ?
-
you can dremil them off but leave the nut on so you can recut the end of the threads once you've cut them down by unscrewing the nut :daumenhoch:
-
put the wheel on the bike and tighten the nuts, hacksaw the end of the axle off leaving about 3-4 threads showing then unscrew the axle nuts to clean the thread. it's a 5 minute job. :daumenhoch:

Yep, take your time and it's a simple job with a file or grinder :daumenhoch:
Just wait till you have a 14mm Ti axle to fit into a 10mm frame slot...... now that was a bit of a sweat-on getting sorted :LolLolLolLol:
